Do you shop online for your petgoods? Food/toys/vet stuff?

I usually shop online from Australian based web companies, and do a search of which shop has it cheapest and buy from there (but having to consider shipping costs too). But lately, with the AUD so good, does anyone shop from the US?

Where do you shop?

Pls include:

- web address (and country it is based in)

- what they sell / what it's good for

- shipping (flat rate? how much - or how is it calculated)

For books (dog related and otherwise!) I use:

www.betterworldbooks.com (US based)

They sell new and second hand books - and profits go to world literacy causes. Shipping is a flat rate per book so no need to make big orders or wait til you have a few books you want. I've ordered at least a dozen books on and off and have been very happy with them.

Vet-n-Pet Direct

Super quick dispatch of your order.

$5.95 postage or free pick up from their warehouse in Brisbane (Jimboomba).

I've found them much cheaper for leads/collars etc.

I have also shopped at Oz Pet Shop foy treats and toys quite a few times. I make sure my orders are large to make use of the free postage for orders over $150. again, super quick dispatch

For books I use The Book Depository It's free postage and really cheap. It can take a few weeks for your order as they come from the UK, but well worth it

updated with your contributions and a few more! Anything more? specifically, does anyone have some good US stores that ship to Australia (given that the dollar is so good right now!), or if within US only, who do you use to do follow-on shipping??

(and has anyone bought any nina ottsson puzzles at prices better than what is available here in oz??)

Cheers!

I always buy my flea products from Ebay. To be honest, I find them much cheaper then other websites. For instance I am about to buy Comfortis for my German Shepherd which will cost me between $53-$60 ( free postage). Heartgard is $38 with free postage.

Ebay is also really good for toys, books, breed memorabilia.

Ebay Australia

The Book Depository UK is another one that is awesome for free postage. There are a whole lot of books available. In fact most of my training books now come from Book Depository UK. They have a wide range of titles and authors.

Good stuff... I will add the latest to the first post next week along with any new suggestions.

Brennan's Mum - are there any Ebay stores in particular that you shop at or have had good experiences with?

Thanks!

fleas/wormers [cats and dogs] vetstop and i think they're in qld.

cheapest i've found online for fleas/worming products but they also cater for horses, greyhounds, birds, reptiles, books, cds & dvds, and household with a section for specials...

All freight costs are presented to you at checkout before final order confirmation so you know exactly what the postage is going to be.

We currently use Australia Post for most of our freight needs. Couriers are used for some orders.

For delivery within Australia:

- Orders weighing up to 250 grams will cost $5.25

- Orders weighing 251-500 grams will be $5.95

All other postage amounts will depend on destination postcode and order weight.

When you place an item in your shopping cart you can calculate the freight immediately based on the weight and the delivery postcode.

Cubing: Australia Post required us to 'cube' bulky orders that don't weigh much. This means freight will be charge on the cubic volume of a package rather than its weight.

I am currently looking at purchasing new beds. Does anyone have any info on the following online suppliers;

Ozdogbeds

Dogbedsgalore

Pookinuk

I am hesitant to spend big $ on the unknown and I have never used any of these before. The first one, Ozdogbeds, have some really great prices too.

Wow lots of great resourcs there Secret Kei - good stuff! Will update the list soon, been quite flat out!

In the meanwhile, spotted dealsdirect have a special on heated dog beds today:

83cm x 63cm x 7cm -$25

58cm x 43cm x 7cm -$17.95

50x40 with edge - $29.95

75x65 with edge - 49.95

Shipping is 9.95, the second item was 7... it might keep going down for more, I'm not sure.

there are two 'kitty kat' sleeping bags too - $25 and $29.95.

I'm not familiar with these products, so if anyone has bought them before or have any insight on heated dog beds, I am all ears.

I have bought from dealsdirect before, ok stuff, but the worst was high threadcount sheets that were soooo dodgy I had to return them.

ETA: Just saw post for discussion on this special: http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/220234-heated-dog-beds-on-special-if-anyone-has-a-cold-dog-d/
