Kennel Cough

Hi Everyone,

A friend of ours has a dog that has kennel cough. Has been told that childrens cough medicine could help. Wondering if anyone has tried this before?

We use the original Benadryl for easing the cough, and it works a treat

manuka honey 20+ , a teaspoon three times a day

Make sure your friend keeps their dog quarantined in their yard , for at least 10 days after the last cough.

I second the manuka honey, worked a treat for my dog.

Also when your friend showers take the dog into the bathroom so that the steam from the shower helps the dog

We have used benadryl original too. About 3mls for a 7kg dog couple of times a day or right before they

go to bed so they & we could get some sleep.

Haven't tried the shower & steam.

With winter upon us in Melb I am now cautious about showing our 4 month old pups alot during winter.

Active Manuka Honey - the higher the UMF the better (recommend at least 15, but 20 and higher is better) but it isn't cheap. (I just restocked a jar - $61.00)

However, it is natural, it is effective and you don't have to worry about dosage so much.

I fourth Active Manuka Honey - we've had alot of kennel cough episodes with Sasha and it fixes her up quickly, even eases the coughing really quickly - and she LOVES it!!
