Dog Survives Being Shot, Buried

Recommended Posts

A stray dog that survived being shot in the head and buried alive in Malta has prompted a debate on the island nation on animal cruelty.

Police found Star, a mixed-breed dog, buried up to its face with its limbs bound and snout tied up, the Times of Malta reported.

Veterinarians managed to remove about 40 shotgun pellets from Star's head and the animal is now recovering in an animal shelter.

The violent act last Thursday has prompted calls for tougher animal cruelty penalties in the Mediterranean nation, even as the attacker remains at large.

Despite receiving adoption offers from all over the world, Star will be given to the dog lover who made the first offer.
