Show Cut

This is a VERY specialist area and most pet groomers are unlikely to be able to do this. Best bet would be to contact breeders of scissored breeds in your area. If there are no Bichon breeders, try Poodle breeders. It may cost you a fair bit to get someone to do it though. Best bet may be to try and find someone to help you learn how to do it yourself. Is the dogs breeder close by or can they suggest someone in your area to help you? Maybe post something in the Show folder here too to see if anyone local can help you out.

Hi Espinay2

Thanks for your idea's. I will try on the show folder. but its looking like I will have to travel to learn the art of clipping. If anyone knows of someone who is willing to teach show cutting for a Bichon who lives between Brisbane and Townsville I will be more than happy to discuss cost's.. Wolfies Dad

Your breeder should be able to supply you with any grooming info .

There will be groomers who can do it BUT show grooming is done weekly so the cost factor would be astronomical plus you always need to do tidy ups with the next bath.

Many of the Poodle people run grooming salons & they would be able to scissor no drama's.

If the coat is correct texture the body is easy to do with a good eye & right equipment .the head is harder especially waiting for it to grow.

Have you learnt about banding the face to minimize staining ??

Hi Showdog

Wolfies breeder lives interstate and as offered to help using Skype which we dont have, I'm trying to find someone closer so that its more hands on. He still as his puppy coat (hes 9 months old). I have not heard of banding the face?. He did stain badly when he was teething and we tried Angels eyes and that seemed to work. Cheers Mike Wolfies Dad
