Seems to be only 1 place. http://www.naturalpetstore.com.au

Have you tried the Canidae Free Grain range? Seems to have good reviews too. There are more retailers doing this and hence you should get a waaaaay more competitive price than TOTW.

These guys are sellers, they don't send out samples do they?

I was considering Canidae a while back and at that time read pretty bad reviews with the dogs. Formula may have changed now so will review again.

Natural Pet Store used to provide free samples of TOTW - have a look at their website. You have to pay the postage though which is around $5 and you can get 2 samples I think. I have been using the Pacific Stream and am happy with it except for the large size of the kibble - a bit big for the littlies. It has a lower protein content than the Canidae.

Thanks Rosetta.

Jess, yeah i recall something like that. I did relook at Canidae just now and prices are comparable with TOTW.

Nah, he can only take the CANIDAE GRAIN FREE pureSEA version since I suspect he is allergic to chicken and turkey and the main ingredients in the pureSea are "meal" based so not as good as TOTW as it has the real thing. PureSea is already $100 so for $10-$15 extra, TOTW isn't too bad. Thanks for the recommendation anyways, too bad they cant have the cheaper flavour because of the allergy.

Urgh.... after further digging, have found some articles about recalls on TOTW last year. This may change my decision. May look into Artemis range again instead.

Does anyone know where TOTW is made?

The recall did not relate to product shipped to Australia - that is apparently manufactured in a different part of the country and was not involved in the recall. There was a thread about that on here at the time I think - I know I read a discussion about it somewhere.

But yes it is made in USA.

Hmmm, not sure why are you sceptical about 'meal'. I think it's the same for fish, but for chicken, you are better off looking for 'chicken meal' as it's more value for money in terms of protein vs water content. This I assume you're buying dry food.

Artemis is super pricy! But, I must tell you most dog food had some recalls in their life. Same with human stuff we brought from Coles & Saveway.

If you are pedantic, most major brands produce from the same generic Diamond factory. How can we really avoid it? Agree, some brands have outsourced this task to other supposedly higher graded factories or own their own factory. For example, Canidae quite recently bought its own factory from a family business in Texas.

Having its own factory doesn't mean it's good point, but at least they are trying to stay away from Diamond who still has some serious bad reputation of causing massive recalls for so many brands :)

PS: Trust me, I'm not a Canidae sales man. My dog and I just happen to let the brand.

Which place? Robbo Pet. I only bought 1 bag of dog food from there! Pls review my other posts. I've shared about my pet warehouse as well.

No, I'm not associated with any people or organisation.

Interesting. Quote from the website: " in commercial dog food… a high grade meat meal can actually be a better source of digestible protein… than the whole meat from which it was made."

Logically I would have thought was the other way around. I guess its differentiating from a good quality meal product to an inferior one.
