Sad news by Marilyn Kelly

Tuesday night I fed all my Dogs Dry biscuits, bread and Canned food.

( I cant say

the make)

My Daughter was just released from Hospital so the Canned food was a

quick easy

fix.

Wednesday Morning 4 of my dogs had upset tummies but were still

themselves.

Wednesday night my 9 month old was not herself and everyone was a

little quiet

so I consulted my vet and we put them on Buscapan and electrolytes.

Thursday morning as usual I got up at 6.00 O'clock to run my dogs. I

found 2

Dead 1 almost Dead 1 a little bit wobbly and the rest O.K. from the

time I

hooked up the float loaded up the car and trailer they were getting

worse. My

Vet and his Nurses were overwhelmed 2 Died at their Surgery and in a

matter of

minutes another was going down 4 were left and I drove down to

Brisbane to the

Vet specialists as my Vet said "he didn't have the resources to deal

with

something like this. When I arrived they were waiting for me another

one was

already dead and 1 more had gone down fast its now Friday I'm numb

Angry and

totally Pissed off with the World. I have Tia ( Ch Cathkin Luvly to

lookat)

Shim (Mazarelli Lookno Hi R ) left may we all Pray for him and her.

The Autopsy has provided us with why this has happened and all I can

say because

I am taking this Legally further and so are the Vets.

As pewithers has said in this thread in the general section; there needs to be a nationwide recall of this product, taken off shelves immediatley if the canned food is the culprit.

I remember once we found a huge piece of plastic / part of machinery in one of those dog rolls. Luckily we found it as we were cutting it up.

Anyway we rang the manufacturer and complained and said one of our dogs could of choked on it.

Their answer basically was "build a bridge, get over it......and heres a $5 gift voucher"

:o

We were lucky for our dogs of course, but I truly hope your friend gets a much better response than we did if it was indeed caused by the dog food.

Hi guys, just read that Marilyn has now lost Shim, this means 7 have died . She also posted the following so i will quote it here to maybe answer some of the questions

I no I have got you all in a flap. So I will tell you a little bit more so its

a bit clearer. My Dogs had Hemoriged in the gut I'm sure there's a Vet term for

it there kidney's did not fail. They were bleeding from the mouth and bottom. I

rang the company earlier before the Autopsy was through just to give them a

heads up got some silly bitch on information line. Not interested at all until

I mentioned I've still got the can the docket and we are testing the can as well

as having the Autopsy. She didn't take my Number only asked the batch No. and

wiped me off.

The Autopsy clearly states High bacteria in meat. For someone to bait a dog

they would have to rot the meat for weeks and feed them individually one by one

for them to consume the amount. The Vet is the one that said to me" it was the

Canned meat", we need to stop this from happening again.

When Mary my Vet got the results of the Autopsy she tried to ring them they had

gone for the weekend, she even got onto the internet and Emailed them to bring

to there attention the results, I am afraid ties back to them. I ve never seen

a Vet get so angry but she's the one that's been with them trying to keep them

alive.

I'm sure there's Vet/ Chemistry terms for all that is happening but this is

plain English for me.

I hope for marilyn and her family that the last surviving girl pulls through, I have lost dogs (2) one at a time but 7 this must be a very harrowing time for them, words just dont seem to be enough do they.

I cannot begin the to fathom the great loss this lady and her family are feeling.

Was in the same boat in May last year so I can understand the anger and the sheer disbelief. Dog food companies need to be held accountable. :)

Who the hell do they think they are :D :)

Crying again now just thinking of it. :o

Gail

Rest easy dear fur friends :)

Before anyone runs out with a tar brush and a feather bucket....I think the necropsy results should be heard so as to show what exactly is at fault. Not diminishing the tragic happening here...just do not want to see a hate campaign that may not be in fact warranted.

I have no intentions of being involved in a hate campaign - also have no intention of feeding my guys canned dog food until I find out what the hell went wrong with the quality control in the canning process - for gods sakes cans should be safer not deadly enough to kill 7 dogs when they only got a spoon full ea. And yes I have no clue what brand and I can assure you even if I knew that it would make no difference to me - no canned food for my guys until I know what the heck went on. To think we keep a few cans for emergencies and in case anyone is off their food and rotate them by using them as the occassional treat.

The brand will only matter to me if the company does not treat this poor woman and her family well after what they have been through or if they fail to pull this batch of cans off the market. If either of these things happen I will boycott all their products which is my right as a consumer.

What I cannot understand is, if the food was at fault, why havent we heard of a mass outbreak of this? I wold imagine batch runs of a product would be pretty big?

It doesn't make any sense. Doesn't help those poor animals, and their owners but doesn't make sense.

Hope we have a full report soon.

 I cant imagine enduring this kind of loss.

talking about the canned product, it may not have been factory contamination;

It could also have been a storage/transport issue with the food, ie; cans left in the sun or old stock. now this is disgusting; Farmers used to leave a can of sardines in the sun, then open it and leave where foxes & feral cats would eat it. The botulism would kill them horribly. I have watched our local supermarket leave canned stock in the sun, while the loading bays are busy. whatever has caused this unthinkable tradgety, I hope its brought to light ASAP

oh, my god! I am so sorry to hear that.

May god be with all the dogs, hope they will live happily in the heaven now.

Hate those irresponsible manufacturers! Why can they be so cruel?!

Marilyn, I know all the words will be useless to you for your loss. However, I still hope you will recover from this horrible accident soon.

Coolibahcoolies, I dont know the recommendations for canned food storage, it might be a good idea to phone a customer help line on the can. I dont imagine that its good for any processed food to be in high temps.

I wouldnt be using tins that have been left in the sun, or in a car.....they are potentially bad medical experiments

If contents of can does survive....one can only imagine the level of preservative in the can if not putrid.
