Quarantine Period For Pup

Hi All

Our 14 week old pup is due for his final vacc this week so rang to double check the quarantine period as we're hoping to go away for Easter to a farm.

They are telling us two weeks - as I recall with our now 3yo dog, it was one week.

Does anyone know the 'standard' and do you think we're risking him ? Going to a farm with other dogs & a family that's lived there a long time so I can call to double check they've never had parvo.

My vet told me that most vaccines start to provide coverage within 72 hours.

As this is his final vaccination, he should already have some immunity anyway.

In the UK final vacc is done at 11 weeks and they are good to go the next week, (we only do 2 shots)

I took Gibbs out after 7 days after the vac, vet said 10-14 days breeder said 7 I think so I just waited 7.

Eta and it was his 12 week shot, so I took him out at 13 weeks

You'll be good to go. Sadly, to be perfectly frank, I think there are probably more dogs out there who have not completed their puppy vaccinations than most of us would care to think about.

I also contacted the place we're staying and they have dogs but have never had any diseases so I think we'll be safe anyway.

We recommend MINIMUM one week at both vets I work at :)
