Yes we have already decided on x-ray a couple of days before due and that she is absolutely not to go beyond earliest due date without a check up for progesterone level and fetal heart rates etc.

An x-ray won't show how fat they are but an ultrasound will.

Once again I am going with the experience and advice of my repro specialist vet :)

Today I got the confirmation that my girl Alera is in whelp. It will be a first litter for the both of us.

A litter of Finnish Lapphunds due on the 30th of November.

Excellent news Evolving!!

I had the fun of cuddling and playing with some 4 week old lappies not so long ago now and OMG do they make VERY cute puppies :)

Thanks I am very excited about it.

She is only 4 weeks along and already is starting to get a little fat belly. There were quite a few little puppies hiding away in there.

Add me in, got a litter of Pomeranians, shes now at day 59!!!!

not long to go, her first litter, put her in a maternity clip and shes so funny!

Hopefully shell have them as easily as she did getting her title!

We are thinking maybe 4, which is a large litter for poms.. could be only 2 but theyd be pretty big! and shes very large, just a bit bigger than my import who had 4, so am thinking its the golden number this year.

Our vet likes to do between day 23 and 28. I went for day 26/27 from first mating but did wonder if another couple of days might have been better but I figured I would go with what the repro specialist clinic would recommend.

Right now she is keeping me guessing. She has gone from looking very pregnant to not pregnant back to very pregnant. A couple of days ago she suddenly developed a waist again and I suspected maybe she was absorbing but then yesterday it had disappeared again. Although I did start to wonder was it more that her rib cage sprung rather than her waist shrunk?

Oh dea Piper, I read your posts and you sound just like me. "she's pregnant"/ "no she's DEFINITELY NOT pregnant" are all going through my head whenever I have a litter

Hope you find more than 2! Best of luck to you all who are expecting litters.

For those of you who have 'missed' even though you prog tested, had matings and got a successful sperm count etc... do you guys know why this happens? Is it just 'one of those things' or is there usually something else that may also play a part (just info for me :))

leopuppy04,

I am known to over analyise. LOL

Right now I am on the she is definitely pregnant, not as big as last time at the same time but definitely has boob development and no waist. Jazz normally has such a distinct waist and abdominal tuck, when she is out of coat I have been known to joke she looks like a whippet. Right now her belly is level underneath, no tuck up at all and when she sits down there is a definite pot belly look. So now to wait and see is it 2 gigantic buggers or just that some were hiding.

I was the same, she is , she isn't, she is....well now is definate that she is.

Leopuppy - Interesting question, prior to mating any bitches, the general rule of stud dog owners is that the bitches are swabbed prior to mating. I also read while researching that males should also be tested as they can also carry bacteria which can throw out the balance of the female which can cause them not to fall, or to abort...not sure how much truth there is to it, but it's interesting :)

The whelping box and puppy pen set up.

My brother made me a brand new whelping box (1.5m x 1.2m) . I have floor boards, so have gone and brought 3mx3m of lino, and also 2mx2m of marine carpet for added protection, also laying vet bed and a bit of fake grass down, so puppies get used to different surfaces.

They have over half the family room penned off so lots of room to run and play...also set up in the main room of the house, note the TV, so I can watch TV of a night and also watch them play and grow :)

Ava - Almost 8 weeks in whelp :)Just got my delivery of vet bed, purple, pink and grey...lots of vet bed...she thinks its lovely

Aww poor Ava!! I have photos like that from Jazz with her 9 last time. I took 1 of her laying on her side and we called it Mount Jazz :)

No pics from me yet - too much hair to see much and last time I took weekly pics but found that until the last 10 days they really didn't do her size justice. Most of them she just looked tubby.
