Hi All,

It was suggested to me that I could give our 5 month old puppy Vitamin B to help make him more relaxed

around people.

Can anyone reccommend what sort? tablets, liquid?

How much should he have? He probably weighs 2-3kgs.

How long should I give it to him?

Have thought about Rescue remedy but would like to try this first.

Thank you

BB

I haven't used Vit B, but have used a Greyhound product called White E with success. And also used Rescue Remedy.

Midniara gave me a special concoction that a homeopathic chemist had made up for one of her dogs that was a bit nervy and that was brilliant. Was based on rescue remedy but had some other wildflower added to it.

Are they under the skin or intra muscular injections ? I have a puppy who is happy except when going into the showring - this happened due to someone literally running up her a--e at her very first show - I am working on her but this may help her.

Bush Flower Essences have an Emergency Blend which works well for stress and Valerian can be good with some dogs as well.

Where is everyone getting the Vitamin B from.We have a dog here that got spooked at its first show at 3 months of age. Its now been 18 months later and she is still a bit panicky around strangers. Although she is getting better but a long time to undo a split second incident

Under the skin, same place as a vacc or chip and we use the Troy Vit B Complex injection.

Vit B can sting so you need to make sure it's at room temp (keep cool for storage) but it's only 0.5-1ml

I personally wouldnt be bothered with all those vitamins uless the dog is seriously lacking. To me its a socialisation problem. You need to slowly expose your dog to the scary environment i see many pups ruined at shows when taken to a show for the first time at 12 weeks in the height of their fear period and expected to perform. Id be taking it to a show keeping it out of the action and slowly increasing the exposure at each show. How many people had handled this dog before it went in the ring expected to stand like a rock possibly not allowed to move backwards from the big scary hands about to attack it of the judge. Its a scary thing going to a show if the pups not adequately exposed before hand. I would never put one of my dogs in that position unless i knew i had done all the training and socialising before entering the ring. Its harder to unlearn a scary event that be gradually exposed to it initially. Just my thoughts. Just re read and saw that another dog had run up your dogs butt again please people train for this its a disgrace that it happens but it does and we know it so train for it. Having an A surname mine are always at the front so i always teach them with another dog up their butt.

My dog doesn't like Vegiemite.

Would human Vit B tablets be ok?

Don't want to do injections.

Where can you get Bush Flower Essences have an Emergency Blend?

BB

They have a website - http://ausflowers.com.au/ or most Health Food Shops stock the mixed essences - online you can get single ones and mix something more specific to what you or your dog may need but it takes alot of time to work it out.

I always have Emergency, Solaris and Travel Essence in my show kit.

Thanks, thats easy to do - intra muscular I don't like though - might give it a go as she is perfectly happy and confident in every other situation - happy and confident with the stack and the judge but as soon as you move her she stresses. I've tried everything and with training she was near perfect but as soon as she got back to her next show all that work - gone.

I had a young Affie like that, stood well but the move was terible. I took him to comps and Open Shows and when it was time for the move, I'd play with him while running, food, squeaky or ball in hand and while the Judges thought I was nuts, the pup did come good after a while.
