Too Old?

We 'borrowed' a bitch once who was 4, first time as a show dog. She went on to win res CC at a speciality show.

Would depend a lot on the breed I would think - a 6 year old Great Dane isn't quite the same prospect as a 6 year old Chihuahua :)

I showed and titled a Great Dane who started at the age of 3, he won BIG at Sunbury (270 entries from memory) within 3 months of starting to show, within 6 months he was titled.

Thanks ladies! That reassures me. A 2 yo JRT should be ok then :)

Have a lovely week

Absolutely ok! 2 years is not old for a JRT, my girl still happily shows in veterans on the odd occasion, and she is 11

I took my Whippet to her second show my first, and her first obedience and agility trials with her when she was 3, I think, no younger than two anyway. They can go a good year between shows as of the last 4 or 5 years :)

While in Australia many people start their dogs early, in quite a few other places (the US for example) many dogs don't see much of the ring until they are around 2 or older when they are finished growing and considered 'competitive'.
