Puppy School Reccomendations

I am looking for reccomendations for for a puppy school in the Penrith / Blacktown / Western Sydney area?

There are lots to choose from but not a lot of places put much details on their websites about details for example, who does the training. I want somewhere who doesnt just have the vet/vet nurses doing the training, but someone with dog behavioural experience. Preferably at an indoors location since its been quite hot lately.

Can anyone reccomend anywhere?

I'm in the Blacktown area (Quakers Hill). May I suggest not going to Quakers Hill Vet (Hambledon Road) puppy preschedule. My experience there earlier this year was it wasn't much more than a free for all puppy playgroup with a little bit of direction.

No other suggestions unfortunately although I do believe that Woodstock Animal Hospital has a good one - but I don't have any personal experience there, just what I have heard.

Hope you find somewhere good.

Sares - when you have finished with puppy preschool and if you are interested in a little more, obedience Blacktown Kennel Club is great - I have been taking Banjo since he was about 6 month and he is doing quite well - he is now nearly 10 months old. I initially took him because I was wary of off leash dog parks but wanted him to socialise a bit more because he was a bit nervous around other dogs. That mission is accomplished but we continue to go each week - I like the semi-controlled environment where it's not a free for all at the dog park - that's not to say that dog parks are full of irresponsible dog owners - I am sure there are many who are very responsible and their dogs are well behaved - I've just read too many scary stories here!

Anyway - just a thought if you are interested since you seem to be in the Blacktown area :)

I know you are looking for something for puppies but I second the recommendation for Blacktown a Kennel Club. I took my puppy to a puppy preschool which I won't name because I had a bad experience but others seemed happy with it and I don't want to bad mouth them, but in general it was run in the foyer of a local vet. The room was very small and the dogs were all right on top of each other. The instructor did try to impart some ideas regarding training but the result was pretty chaotic. She also seemed to prefer small dogs to large and mine always seemed to be a giant amongst midgets. There was also a lot of time spent on "socialisation" which didn't work well in such a small area.

The long and short of it is that I was disappointed with the experience and found the advice and relaxed atmosphere at BKC was much more helpful

I called Carmarna and they arent starting the puppy school up again until 2nd Feb. :(

I looked up Steve on K9Pro online and it doesnt have much info on puppy school.

Still cant find somewhere to start her up so she can begin the basic obediance. :( I didnt find it this hard last time. There is just none in western Sydney that are not just a puppy free for all play session! :(

Hey Sares, just to clarify we don't run a traditional puppy class or school. You would come in for a one on one consult with Steve and he will design a puppy raising program tailored specifically to your pup and your goals. Feel free to PM me with any questions :)
