Hi everyone,

I am posting this on behalf of a friend. She has a 7month old pup which she got from the RSPCA. I will paste what she has put on Facebook so I don't get the details wrong.

My 7mth old puppys head distorted over night. And he cant open jaw. Spent a fortune at vet and they dont know what it is. Been a week now. Xrays showed nothing so they thinking it muscular skeletal. He seems to not be in pain will euthanise him if that happens. Any ideas people

They took syringes there no infection nothing. Its like a rock. On top head and side face. They thinking it internal so we giving him asprin and antibiotics just in case and benadryl.

No change in him. Still wants to love. Jaw only opens a bit and there is a long large lump on his head over right side and on left cheek. It literally happenned over night. We thought it was muscle but first vet said grass seed which turned out wrong.

Solid no muscle spasms

If anyone has any suggestions as to what it may be it will be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Oh poor boy :( I would be going to specialists, the fact that he can only open his jaw part way and his head being distorted like that doesn't sound right to me at all :(

See another Vet.asap.

My cat had similar swelling when he ran into a glass door trying to chase a bird that was outside.

The swelling was not as bad as the dog but was in the same areas. The swelling went down after a few days.

Could he have ran into a door or wall/window ..

No bacteria either. We thought maybe he snapped a ligament or something but then it happened to other side face. He peed hayley bed last night. Didnt even move to pee just lay there. On the up side he was very happy this morn wanted a walk too.

Just asked if he hit his head and this was the reply. Well. He did knock chin on outdoor lounge. Next day all this happened. Vet said no that not it. Then second vet said ohh maybe and dan went off at them. He told them from start jaw was wrong and they didnt listen. But xrays showed nothing. Wtf..
