How Do You Stop Water Bowl Diggers?

Small to medium sized breed - I have put a brick in the water bowl but it gets dug out leaving the dog without water.

It's OK at the moment but when the hot weather starts again it will be a problem.

For the size of the dog, the determination to dig the water out, which includes the brick, is very strong.

Any ideas on how to stop it or at least have some water for the dog to drink?

Thanks for the suggestion but that wouldn't last 5 minutes.

It would be totally chewed up...we are talking 6 month old puppy that chews everything.

You could use a glass or aluminium bottle instead. The dispensers are the same as are used in rat and mouse cages :)

The clam shell sounds like a good idea....any ideas for inside the house?

I dont bother with water inside anymore. My dogs can go outside whenever they want through a dog door and I've got water gardens and clam shells for them out there.

use something big and heavy. People have mentioned on here before using old ceramic basins I think?

I use a large stainless steel bucket, and the weight of the water itself makes it hard to knock over.

+1 I use a 20 litre bucket for three Labradors. They still dribble, though.

A clam shell and multiple water bowls for outside. On really hot days 2 clam shells in different areas of the yard. And inside we use a Road Refresher bowl as well - if they go mental they can dig the water out of it which Cinna did a few times as a pup but as she is under supervision inside the digging in her inside bowl stopped pretty quick.

We had an inside water digger

We got one of these

It's a 'dog it' fresh and clear fountain..

Anyway she still dug in it, so we put her $2 plastic bowl over the top and bang stopped digging ( no choice)

The water is designed to constantly flow down the side of the bowl. It holds 10 l so it's great and the water is always cold too!
