Lisey Posted January 21, 2016 Share Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) Eva is at the specialist vet right now having an MRI. I'm so worried about her. I've just returned from 3 weeks holiday this morning and taken her straight to the vet (a different one from below) who has referred her to the specialist. My mum was looking after both dogs and about 9 days ago took Eva to the local vet as her lip looked droopy and they just said old age (she is 7). Then mum took her back on Saturday as she was not wanting to jump on lounge, etc. and they just gave her anti-inflammatorys and said to rest. Then last night mum called the emergency vet as Eva wouldn't go up the stairs to have dinner, they said if she was eating and drinking and toileting to just see how she goes. (She ate when mum bought her food downstairs). I get home this morning after 3 weeks, booker runs out to say hello but Eva won't get off the lounge, I could see that she wanted to and was excited to see me but was hesitant to jump off. I've looked at her and can just tell something is not right. Her face looks funny, she is leaning to one side, really unsteady on her feet. It's awful. Vet has called and said that MRI didn't show any large masses which is good, she has also given Eva a spinal tap and should have results from that tomorrow morning. Lisey Posted January 23, 2016 Author Share Posted January 23, 2016 Thanks. Spinal tap came back with no meningitis. They have sent MRI to a radiologist for a second opinion as they have said possibly she has a small stroke. I won't hear back about that until Monday. If not that then maybe idiopathic vestibular disease (but they have said the facial paralysis doesn't really fit). She has come home yesterday afternoon as was stressed out there, so I've slept downstairs with her all night. Today she is seeming a little better and her face doesn't seem as droopy, but maybe I am just getting use to it? Frustrating not to have some concrete answers and not being able to do anything to make her feel better. Just a lot of rest. She only seems calm when she is laying down.
