Did Woolworth Give Up On Applaws?

...with no roadkill left in the freezer (and no fresh ones on the road) I wanted to fill up my stash for the emergency kibble just to find out that Woolworth dumped the Applaws brand?...and replaced it with this 'Farmers Market'? ...they even don't disclose any ingredients / percentages on their webpage http://farmersmarketpetfood.com.au/our-range/beef ...

...time to get a compound bow and fill up the freezer with some real fresh stuff...

It's still being sold on Woolworths online. Perhaps it's just not being stocked in your local store.

the dog stuff?...I only found the cat food when I checked online...

ETA and if you scroll down the lamb & kangaroo is there too.

ETA x 2 the fact that a product is on sale can sometimes be a hint that it will be discontinued, but it seems to be there for now.

that's weird ...if I enter 'Applaws' into the search engine it only comes up with cat food, and for the page you linked to it says 'unavailable'...?... I will ask tomorrow.

My local woolies still had Applaws, but I managed to have a quick peak at the Farmers Market kibble, and I wasn't terribly impressed by the content, listing whole grains (from memory) about the third or fourth ingredient.

Poor Mr TC was so confused, as Dozer can't have grains, beef, lamb or chicken based kibble (bloody blue dogs) and he couldn't understand why I wanted to have a look at the ingredients.

One of the Nature's Gifts dry foods has been discontinued too - Biogestion5. I haven't seen it for ages and have been trying to get hold of it for Amber. I emailed them and they said they aren't making it anymore. Buying small bags of the Nourish is annoying.

Not surprised they have stopped making the NG dry, given they have launched Farmers Market. It's the same company.

They are still making it but it is in little bags. I wanted the Biogestion because it came in 3kg bags.

  • 2 weeks later...

Here in Adelaide we have a supermarket, Foodland, and they stock Applaws all the time, Coles used to carry it but I have not seen it on their shelves for a couple of weeks.

We also have Woolworths, yes where I live we have these three big supermarkets within five minutes walk, I have not checked their shelves for it.

My dogs love it and it is grain free, they are doing very well on it.

Yep, thanks. I guess there will still be bags of it around. None of my local places had it which is why I emailed them. She is having the Nourish at the moment which comes in a small bag. I was hoping to get the 4kg Biogestion instead. Has been the first dry food that she has actually eaten. Don't know if it is the size of the kibble or the fact it is softer. She normally just spits kibble out. Right now she is a normal weight and doesn't even feel boney :champagne:

I think de-sexing agreed with her :p
