Just for fun - How does your dog react to its birthday

Over the years with our different schnauzers I have always made a fuss of them on their special day. Zena absolutely loved birthdays and Christmas and would eagerly await her gifts. It was Mollys 7th birthday last Sunday and I swear she knew and my gosh she had a brilliant day. We were camping so it was already special. She was so funny and that’s why I thought of starting this thread and seeing what others did.

 

Molly started the day with a home made dog biscuit and then later I gave her gifts to unwrap. She started unwrapping them herself and found a small chewy dental treat. She then stood with it in her mouth staring at me and then suddenly           she took off running down the bush track. I followed. She then headed into some bushes and tried to hide her treat. Naturally with me watching she wasn’t happy leaving it so she tried a few more bushes but eventually took it back to the campsite where she took the plastic wrapper off it and proceeded to eat it. Once she finished eating it she then continued to unwrap the rest of her gifts. One was a long pink bunny, great for tug of war games. She was so excited and run about like crazy. Made me so happy to see her appreciateing everything. More treats as the day wore on plus a few bush walks and multiple soccer games that she instigated. She was one very happy little girl.

When we had our great dane and greyhound, they would have their photo taken with a party hat on while they were eating their McDonald's cheeseburger.  They both got one on each other's birthdays so they didn't miss out.

 

As soon as I walked in the door with the cheeseburgers, they knew and did pretty sits to have their hats put on and photos taken.  They also got something nice for dinner as well and extra treats.  I'm not sure that they knew it was their birthday though  

 

I miss making a fuss over them.

Gorgeous photos and story! Malcolm knows all about Christmas but Gotcha/birth days seem less distinguishable. Perhaps I need to step up my game by bringing in a pot plant and putting presents under it for a week prior.
