The saving grace for hundreds of rescue animals now needs the community’s support more than ever.

For five years Gina Fallon has selflessly given her time, money and energy to helping some of the most vulnerable members in our community, the ‘Golden Oldies’, older dogs that have been surrendered or rescued and are in need for a fur-ever home.

Last week, Gina was given the news that no one wants to hear; she has triple negative breast cancer.

Her daughters Rebecca and Tracey Lee have been fighting hard to support their mum and make Gina as comfortable as possible during this difficult time.

They’re now appealing to the community to help support their mum.

“Golden Oldies has taken its toll on mum’s [Gina] finances because she often uses her own money to help rescue dogs,” Rebecca said.

“Tracey Lee and I are trying to make mum as comfortable as possible but we have limited finances.

“She has no air conditioning and has a second hand couch that she’s struggling to get out of.

“She puts everything – not just animals but people too – before her own needs.

“We just want her to be comfortable.”

Triple negative breast cancer occurs in 15 per cent of women according to the Breast Cancer Network Australia.

The three receptors commonly found in breast cancer cells, oestrogen, progesterone HER2 are not found in triple negative breast cancer.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Gina financially during her time of need.

WOW!  Nearly $13,000 raised already from 201 donations.   Fantastic.  Hopefully the target of $15,000 will be reached and then blasted through.   :thumbsup:

Hopefully some of that will be used to buy a new couch for Gina with mechanisms to help her stand up.
