spotted this dog for sale, never been imported to Australia to my, or anyone else's  knowledge.. but someone at rspca says it is one? Last one advertised, also by the rspca was in Qld, so they are breeding and moving interstate now?

AND only 29 dollars, its clear the kennels weekend at RSPCA Australia wide.

As far as I can tell the Catahoula Leopard Dog is an AKC recognised breed, but is not as FCI recognised breed, and is not included on the list of ANKC recognised breeds. That doesn’t mean someone hasn’t brought them into the country, just they won’t be running around the show ring. But I’d be more inclined to think the alleged ones over here  are a general hunting mix with probably merle Dane genes in there, like bullarab, Am Bulldog, G Dane mixes or such, maybe even Koolie,  and anything boofy looking with that muddy Merle colour gets called a Catahoula or mix of.......

There are some said to be here, in hunting circles, and probably many claimed to be that aren’t.

If anyone wanted to get the breed ANKC  registered it would not be hard if it is already accepted by the AKC, especially as that is the country of origin.

I can't say for sure, but there was a dog at the dog park I ran into a few weeks ago and the owner said he was a Catahoula. Definitely didn't look like either of those two links, but moreso like the actual one from the AKC. It was a crossbred rescue for sure and about 11 years old.

And the western australian breeder.

well news is the rspca is out to ban all hunting, apparently ACT will be the first state to ban it.

interesting they are fitted with radio trackers, scroll through the photos.

There's quite a few catahoulas - purebreds and crosses of - in the farmer hunting dog groups. Especially up QLD way but down here in Victoria too.

Nobody wants to leave a dog behind on someones farm land. I'm forever hoping to grab one second hand as a bit of bush hiking safety backup (specifically the garmin T5 au as its radio frequencies dont conflict with the search and rescue frequencies)
