AGM Posted March 27 · Report post Does anyone have any magic solution to stop our mature dog peeing on the furniture inside. We adopted him and he seems to like to mark his territory. to date the only way is lock him out when we are not home
persephone Posted March 27 · Report post How long ago was he castrated ( if he was)? having the male hormones still racing around won't help. No magic wand, sadly ..just a step - by step housetraining program, and leaving him outside, or in one room in nasty weather
Animal House Posted March 27 · Report post There's your interim solution, keep him outside when you aren't at home. Is there a reason he needs to be inside when you aren't home? He may be peeing on things because he needs to pee, or for other reasons, anxiety, habit etc etc....we need a bit more info, was he recently neutered? How long have you had him? Have you asked for advice from where you adopted him from? Make sure you thoroughly clean the furniture he has peed on with a pet urine enzyme cleaner, or he will go back and mark the same spot. And welcome to the forum.

teddybeans Posted June 11 (edited) · Report post Isn’t there some spray you can get that deters him from peeing on furniture. I can’t remember what it is but I’ll see whether I can find it Edited June 11 by teddybeans
teddybeans Posted June 11 · Report post This https://www.dailypuppy.com/potty-train-puppy-using-vinegar-water-1017.html you can make your own - it’s natural ingredients so should not harm. I haven’t tried it before but know someone that has and seems to work for them.

Pen or crate training should also help.
