Banjo's sleeping photo is hilarious!! Love the shot of all 3 running too.

Cruz is settling in well, he's such a little character and has definite attitude!!

I bought him a crate today off eBay so if anyone has some Crate Do's and Crate Don'ts - fire away!!

I will hopefully be able to post some new pics of him tomorrow afternoon after our son's 1st birthday party.

Okay, forgive me for asking a silly question but, when do your dogs use the crates exactly?

Do they just sleep in them or is it just for transportation?

Hurley whines if i close the door let alone being put in a crate!

My girl sleeps in hers in the day, when she gets tired & of a night, I dont close the door though.

Sometimes I put her in a crate we use outside & close the door - so she isnt a distraction, when I have a Siberian out on lead, not ever for very long.

But it is good for her to get used to being in a crate at times just in case it is needed in future for any reason, travel, vets, show, whatever?

all the time! if i am going somewhere long distance - crate in car, At night, they go to bed in their crates, during the day if it is horrible weather and i have visitors, crated, when they are tired, they put themselves to bed, wehn they are sick, i crate them to keep an eye on them, and Atlas knows he is only allowed to hump his pillow in the crate.... so he loves his

Thank you!! He is stunning!! :)

I went back to obedience today, demoted myself to the lowest class, i havent been in over 12 months...

As all the people were new, i spoke up first telling them that kaos isnt good with other dogs, to keep their distance, instructor took over and said the same thing, than spent time telling people that ANY dog can bite, that just because kaos is a bull breed, does not mean that all bullies are dog aggressive, that SWFs can bite and you ALWAYS have to be careful around ALL breeds ;)

She than told the class what to do if kaos does take a hating to one of their dogs, not to panic, that I know what i am doing and wont allow kaos to hurt any other dogs, and that she trust me with my dog, to just turn and walk away and praise their dog if they dont react back. I was very impressed, as no one has EVER taken the time to tell anyone this stuff (not just about my dog, but dogs in general!) i have been going for almost 5 years, and this is the first i have heard of it!

Kaos was soooooo good!! she kept her eyes on me most of the time, i have never taught her to stand, so we did a bit of work on that. She did growl at a dog once, but a correction from me, and she forgot about it (causing a stir, as her boyfriend - one of the only dogs other than Atlas she likes, was in the other class, and just wanted to come over and make sure she was ok- Sorry Rastus Froggy if you read this ;) :) )

So yeah, was a good day all up, no big problems, and i was amazed at her focus on me!! Was dreading going, but might have to make more of an effort go go when i am off work.

Hi,

I was looking for some information and more so, advice relating to my almost 5 year old Staffy. She was always fine with other dogs, would cry when she heard them because she wanted to play with them. I decided to get a new pup (German Shepherd) in late March. Since then, my staffy (Brandi) has turned slightly. She dislikes other dogs, when they bark, she barks and gets quite angry. She was desexed last month.

Since getting the new pup, she is noticably over protective of him. While the barking doesn't bother me, she jumps at the wall (Which isn't smooth) and takes deep scratches to her legs. I've tried putting things up against the wall (A bbq, kennel, etc) and she manages to jump on everything which makes the situation worse.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of behaviour? Is this something that will change as the pup grows up? I'd hate for her to seriously damage herself (She tore her Cruciate last year) so that always plays in my mind with her continual jumping at the wall.

Any ideas/suggestions are welcome as I am at a loss as what to do! I just moved into a new house in April and the neighbours have 2 dogs, which is where this all stemmed from. Ideally, I don't want to have to sell the house.

hi sunnyy

just a thought, have you socialised your staff with the neighbours dogs?

i had the same problem with my staff and i went to my neighbours and asked them if the dogs could meet each other on leads of course!!!

i did this a few times. After a few meets my staff didnt jump and charge at the fence.

if i have anyother ideas ill post them too u ;) ill also ask around for other solutions for u ;)

Thanks loveastaff ;)

I haven't done that yet - I know one of them is a Jack Russell and the other is a mix. I might call my local trainer as well and see if they have any ideas. If Brandi sees a dog in the street, she is fine and doesn't get angry - Its just in the yard (Back and front) where she gets a bit over the top.

I'll definately give it a try and hope nothing bad happens! Should I keep the pup in presence as well or remove him?

Agreed.

My Rotti and my neighbours Dally used to go head to head at every chance so we got together regularly and now they're fine. Well, she's still a bitch but my boy is an angel ;)

in my opinion the more you socialise your little pup with other dogs the better!!!!

Also Brandi might be territorial and think that the other dogs are intruding

your trainer will give you some good ideas hopefully

your best bet is to get all the doggies to meet so at least they all know who is on the other side of that fence!!!! :)

Hope that helps let me know how you go!!!! ;)
