  1. Fireworks are too far away from us. Sounds like a faint bang. Took Stanley outside - isn't fussed. Went back to napping in front of my bed :D Neighbourhood is relatively quiet, so I can go to bed now
  2. Another 2 hours here. Hoping all goes well, as Stanley hasn't heard fireworks before.
  3. That's what I thought too. :D Poor dog probably thought the tray was too hot
  4. I've not yet been in a situation where I'm in potential danger with my dog. My 7 month old Airedale Stanley is friendly to strangers, so I don't expect him to 'protect' me. However just recently his territorial instinct has started to kick in. One night I took Stanley out to toilet in the backyard while the OH was spraying fly spray around the side of the house. When OH was walking towards me in the darkness, Stanley ran towards him, gave a warning bark, stopped then hackled with a mean growl. He wouldn't back off until OH walked into the light and I said it's OK. Stanley also barks and growls at strange noises at night. Most times it's nothing but I'm thankful he does it anyway, because I'm home alone most of the time and doG knows what can happen.
  5. ! Thank you showdog I talked to her on the phone earlier and she has claimed to have clipped an Airedale before (dog knows how it turned out.) Think I'll cancel my appt. tomorrow with her and go elsewhere.
  6. Oh awesome! Aww bugger I don't think I can wait that long. I wanted Stanley to be done now so he doesn't get too hot in the summer Is anyone familiar with this groomer? LINK I'm a little weary as her gallery shows mostly small dogs. Maybe I should just PM bedazzledx2 and make the trip to Midland
  7. Midland is too far from where I live (South Lake) but will consider them if I can't find someone closer to me. Looking to get clipped (I have a clip chart here from my breeder) as he is a pet. He needs a tidy-up too. I'm willing to pay more if they can do a good job. However I have to wait after Christmas to book him in, hence why I'm looking now
  8. Does anyone in Perth know a good dog groomer who is experienced with terriers?
  9. I had this problem recently too. What solved it was to give my dog a snack before bedtime.
  10. My local Woollies (Gateway Shopping Center in Success, for those in Perth) sell lamb offcuts, lamb forequarter bones, lamb shanks, chicken frames, chicken necks, beef tail, brisket bones and marrow bones. I go nuts there when I have to refill the freezer. My local butcher (South Lakes Shopping Center) is OK - they sell mixed bags of bones (which most are rib bones, good to chew on) for $2 a bag. A large marrow bone is $4 each and they are happy to cut through the marrow and in quarters. Don't buy their small bones though, the butcher won't cut and Stanley gets bored with them. I would love to know where in Perth I can buy roo tail and other delicacies. :D
  11. I give my Airedale what his breeder recommended. He has homemade BARF patties (breeder's recipe), mashed sweet potato & pumpkin, salmon/tuna/sardines, eggs, yoghurt, green veggies like silverbeet, spinach, cabbage etc. His diet consists 60% of bones (why? I have no idea but he gets a variety, and he loves them.) He has Supercoat kibble as a snack before bedtime. Oh and once a fortnight I give him a teaspoon of cod liver oil too.
  12. My breeder let me give my dog chicken necks at 8 weeks. The puppy is too young to have it whole, so bash it with a meat mallet before giving it to her.
  13. This is my favourite one, taken recently: He loves posing for a photo
  14. Stanley was vaccinated at Riseley Vet Centre in Applecross. His vaccinations were $80 each. He was done at 10 weeks and 15 weeks. C3 and Kennel Cough were done both times. South St Vets in O'Connor quoted me $120 for one and only vaccination at 10 weeks, no more until it's yearly boosters. I decided against it because I preferred getting 3 vaccinations over 2 while the pup is young.
