  1. Hi there, does anyone know the closest herding classes to Canberra? Thanks piper, I am so stoked. Never thought we'd get this far. Still grinning! I bet. First trial of the year for us this year is a BIG 1 - Border Collie nationals. Jazz in entered in Advanced A ducks, Started B ducks and Inter A Sheep. I was going to enter her into B sheep but at the point entries closed I decided it had been way too long between training sessions for me to send her out in the big paddock at an unknown venue and no idea what the stock will be like. Trained her on the weekend on some non dog broke lambs and she did an awesome job and I am now kicking myself for not entering B sheep as well. We need 1 pass for our advanced title on ducks, fingers crosse we will bring it up at the Nationals. I will also have Cinna in PT (maybe - might scratch, see what happens) and handling Jazz's daughter from her first litter in her first trial - Started A sheep only. On top o that, agility is on the same day so if anyone visits KCC park, I will be the crazy 1 running from 1 side of the grounds to the other and trying to make sure i have the right dog in the right place at the right time! LOL Yell out if you need help with dog wrangling as I only have Hamish entered in 2 HT runs, otherwise I'm hoping to help out with stock handling and just watch the goings on. So probably will be able to be of some (minor, and non-experienced) assistance if needed!
  2. Hope you are doing better GB, take care. R.I.P. Wedge
  3. So sorry for your loss KW, take care of yourself
  4. Thanks JP. I bet your old gir is much more comfortable now and a good example of case by case.
  5. Well here she is, no clipping, just lots and lots of grooming and swimming in dam water  I think I just need to be more methodical about her grooming and get her into water more, as this is the shortest coat she has had this time of year. There is still a lot of her around hind legs and tail, but at least the coat on her body is shorter.

horus, I also only just saw this thread, thought you had been a bit quiet earlier this month:( I am so sorry that you had to make this decision and all the pain leading up and past it. I hope Ellie and you are healing well. RIP Cleo, hoping there are many hills hoists of washing for you now.
  7. And it isn't about wanting a short coated dog (I do also have one of them), it is about her being comfortable, she is predominantly black, it is very hot here, and she does not have a show coat, she is a big bear!
  8. thanks again, coat not getting cut Great to get different opinions and sure all valid but going the strip rather tan the clip
  9. thanks JulesP sounds good, will see how I go... Use a rake but when she has a lot of undercoat she fusses, she is a sooky girl. Hmmmn Jack sleek (poor Jack if only he knew what you said about him )
  10. Thank you so much everyone:) I did a couple of hours just with large slicker today (not all at once!), and did the most DAGGY clip around her feet to pasterns/hocks (?) rear legs. She has a light sprain from ball chasing on one of her front legs so left them alone. Wow, I should of photographed what came off. Still heaps to go. I brush her regularly but need to almost part her fur rythmically whilst brushing in its direction to get the undercoat if that makes sense. Her coat looks a bit shorter. Definitely going to buy a coat king thing this week, and hope that the shop will give me some pointers in not making all her legs look quite as silly
  11. Thank you everyone I don't mean to be a precious-pup, but don't want to bugger up any further that is a tad 'mutant' in proportions  I am going to try the Coat King or equivalent - I will post in the next couple of weeks the 1) Divine, 2) seriously divine pics
  12. She is not matted and well loved I can imagine in her in some one else's care  What do you think Jules? I am now leaning towards the Edward Scissor Hands? Furinator/Mars thingy. Anyone recommend anyone in the ACT area?
  13. hmmmn coat king? Is that like a furinator?
