Ok so the Costco bed lasted a week. Anyone recommend a longer lasting bed?

Otherwise it will just blankets while we are away.

Will a couple of fleecy blankets be ok as beds?

Sorry but I had to  @ your pictures.

Fleecy blankets will be fine :) Don't waste any more money on dog beds. I stopped buying beds a while ago because I have a husky who just destroys them.

  2. I'd be spending a few hundred dollars on some legal advice.

Unless you signed the lease AFTER they told you "no dogs inside" I think they could be in breach.

No way would i be staying there, Bali or not.

It is a private rental, and we moved in yesterday but the lease was signed today and we were told no dogs inside before we signed it but after we had moved in.

I wish I could convince my partner to abandon bali and move again. We could have the money together for another bond in less than a month, but he's not biting.

I don't understand why they've said no dogs inside at all. There's nothing in here that they could damage that isn't either less than $100 to replace or ours, the most damage they can do is to the turf outside which apparently is $1000 if it needs to be replaced -_- we're so screwed.

Have you spoken to the owners about it at all? Tell them your concerns and if they won't budge then tell them you are moving out. You won't need to come up with a new bond if the owners refund your bond. If you only paid it yesterday then I doubt they have even lodged it.

If you moved in yesterday and got the lease today then why sign it if it said no dogs are allowed inside? If the lease doesn't actually say 'no dogs inside' then can they really say no?

  3. I use the crates for various reasons. Sometimes the dogs will sleep in their crates all night and other times they sleep outside, in the lounge or on my bed.

If it is really hot/cold/bad rain and I have to be at work then I will crate them whilst I am out of the house. The outdoor area isn't that fantastic at protecting them from the elements and I don't like them being inside unsupervised.

One husky chooses his crate over sleeping anywhere else in the house. He puts himself in there and I just leave the door open and he ventures out when he is ready.

My dogs are 6, 7 and 9ish so they are not as active as they used to be and just spend most of their days sleeping. They don't really care where they sleep :)

  4. I called and they said it would be preferable if she was registered in case she went missing. I said she was microchipped so they said if I bring proof that she is registered in NSW they will be able to a reciprocal? registration. That proof must be with the de-sexing certificate

I should be able to get onto the vet clinic where she was de-sexed :)

  5. I might give that a try. I wouldn't even have bothered with it if it wasn't for the really annoying neighbour who will stir trouble just because she can. My other dog is going to stay with my OH's parents but they live on a rural property so it won't matter.

I actually have no idea where I put all of her documents, including her de-sexing certificate :o

  6. It's worth calling and speaking to the council, I had a similiar siuation but longer term as we were living between two houses, the local council area I was in(in Melbourne) actually said to me that they were OK with me not registering her at our address there as long as she had a valid registration at a current address in NSW, we simply listed our melbourne address as a secondary address on her registration

    Thanks kelpiecuddles.

I might give them a call tomorrow. I only just thought of it when I was chatting to my mum. I wish Queensland had lifetime registration like NSW.

  7. Hello Everyone,

Long story short Mia is going to stay with my Mum in Queensland for 3 months. My mum lives in Logan City Council. For the duration of her stay in Queensland would she need to be registered under that council? She is registered in NSW.

My mum has a difficult neighbour and I want to make sure that there is nothing to complain about.

    Thanks :)

  8. Another example is that I am the sort of person who, if quoted $400 for 30 min plumbing job, would question the price or call around. I know of people who earn half my salary who wouldn't and just pay up... now I don't know if that's the average type of person. I may be abnormal or just too cautious I don't know... but it's not because I can't afford it. I just want to make an informed decision.

There are plenty of people like you out there. You are buying a puppy, not getting a plumbing job or a new car. You don't haggle with the price of a pet, it makes you sound like a scab.

Just pay the money and enjoy your puppy

  9. I used to take my dog with me to a small set of shops when I went to either the chemist/the bakery/take away store/convenience store. I was only ever in there for a few minutes at most and I never had any troubles. I grew up in that area and for me and my dog the risk was minimal.

I now live in Sydney and the closest set of shops is a shopping centre so leaving her tied up out the front is not an option. Kind of sad really as I like walking with the dogs to get a few supplies :)

  10. I'm just not one of the haters that wants pound dogs to die.

I haven't come across anyone here who wants the pound dogs to die.

Well a few people have mentioned they wont be happy until PR goes under, but no one is prepared to take on the role of getting dogs off death row, therefore if PR ceases to run, all those dogs will be back on death row.

I know someone on facebook even said that pound dogs were just mutts and not real dogs anyway, sadly I don't think they'd be the only person in the world to have that opinion.

There are people out there who have those views and that is sad to me. Do not mistake us for people who want pound dogs to die, we don't. I want PR to have some transparency and take accountability for the questions they have been asked.

PR is not the first group of people to help pound dogs and if you think they are then you are severely mistaken.

  11. The thread went from 23 to 22, back to 23, and now my posts have been re-instated lol Ams saw the post count different, took them a minute to update the post counter in the back end, then when screenshots were mentioned they magically reappeared.

Are you going to answer any of the questions that people have asked you?

  12. It is a partnership designed not to be broken .......

My old Pajero (13yrs old with 250,000 kms on the clock and still going strong) is fondly known amongst family and friends as "the dog's car". I can spend all day vacuuming, damp cloth wiping, sticky taping and individually picking out Dalmatian hair (the worst offender for hair loss I have ever owned!) and still only get up 75%. I think it looks better but my grown up kids look at it with horror still. They dread the day the old 4wd goes and beg me not to put the dogs in the car they share because they don't want dog hair everywhere :)

Dalmatian fur is the absolute worst. It embeds itself into everything.

I have a massive supply of lint rollers and refills.

  13. Funds can be used however the group likes - it can be hoarded till their heart's content. So long as it's used for the dogs and not personal gain (unless they pay wages) then it's all good.

The trouble they will have is that they are fundraising for specific (and sometimes invisible) dogs. When fundraising for something specific, people are giving money for that specific thing. If the money is not being used for that dog, and being used for other things, then this could be counted as misleading and deceptive.

To fundraise for a rescue facility, they should only be allocating funds that have either come in as generic donations or donations specifically for that cause.

    You said this perfectly.

They had one post which read "17 minutes and still three dogs still to be killed at the pound. These dogs have no hope right now.....etc" See attachment.

People proceeded to then donate long after that 17 minutes was up - PR said they needed at least $1000 to help the 3 dogs. Were their bank accounts so empty that they couldn't help them? Or do they just use the dogs with a sob story about how they will die today unless they donate as hype to generate donations?

If they are using false statements to bring in the donations then surely that can't be legal even if they are using the money on other dogs.

  14. They can't be watching it 24 straight so screenshot things as soon as you see it. Why would an organisation with nothing to hide delete so many posts? You would think that with all the donations they get they'd be more transparent.

You gotta read the FAQ's!! They explain everything about their fundraising.

  15. It's freaking me out the number of continuous responses saying they have donated money.

What I have noticed is that someone says they are wanting to foster the dog and they keep getting no response. Here, if that happened, the ball would roll super fast, which makes me think they want the dog to stay in need as much as possible. Ka-ching!

On their 'about us' blurb, they talk about their role, in working with rescue groups to find homes, yet on the FB page, they talk about having a rescue group in the wings, but no name mentioned.

I am sure if you question them about the rescue group they will tell you they never said any such thing :)

  16. I'll see what their obligations are in terms of providing financial records to the public, if they have to I'm going to ask for it. If they have to give receipts for donations over a certain amount they better be doing that too.

Looks like that bit about not being good with other dogs has been edited out, at least from the link. I'll keep looking it might be tucked away somewhere.

It is written here and I will look for where else. They have so much stuff on their page it takes ages to go through.

  17. This is why PR says Venna has been in the pound for so long...drumroll

Venna is one of the longest serving residents at Blacktown - because she is a brindle and not too keen on other dogs. Venna loves her hoomans though so please get in touch about Venna - PM us a number or email XXXXXXXXXX with a number to save Venna

I am quite sure that is the reason and not the not too keen on other dogs section of the sentence.

ETA: I am just print screening all of it, just in case

    Where was that?

Here it is, posted on 22 December:

Venna is one of the longest serving residents at Blacktown - because she is a brindle and not too keen on other dogs. Venna loves her hoomans though so please get in touch about Venna - PM us a number or email [email protected] with a number to save Vennas

    I did see this though:

These doggies all located in the kill list and urgent albums for Hawkesbury and Blacktown pounds. They are all due to be killed or at the very least are taking up a kennel in pounds that will result in another dog being killed. More brindle dogs are killed than any other. Brindle is the mark of death for so many. Pound Rounds wants your help to turn t

he tide of fate around for these brindle babies. They need you more than any pomeranian ever will. Brindle is the least likely colour to be rescued, adopted or fostered. Colour - dogs being killed on colour alone just seems wrong to us - especially when nature has come together to bring out the very best stripes and highlights and tints in these adorable loving dogs. Nature is a talented hairdresser - a colour technician and she has blessed these doggies with natures highlights, please help us show the world their beautiful eyes - look into your heart and help a brindle baby today - the pounds true underdogs - in every sense of the word.

I don't understand how they can hold a clause 16D but not be a rescue. I need to get some ducks lined up but in the meantime I'm copying everything that looks relevant.

You and the rest of us!

When you apply for a Clause 16D it requires a great deal of information, it is hours of work but you also have to provide annual reports to the DLG. I cannot see how PR can have a Clause 16D and maintain it.

I think there has to be a way to sort this, if we can all work together and split the workload. I have a bit of time spare at the moment.

Yes me too, so I am happy to help. I can even go to the pound as its not that far away.

There are multiple dogs at Blacktown which have been held over for a long period of time and I don't know when they make the decision to put a dog to sleep. But some dogs get rescue/adoption straight away so you have to wonder why some dogs are left there for so long, especially when they get hundreds of shares on facebook and donations from PR.

    At Blacktown:

If they are found with a microchip they are held for 14 days. During that time you can place an EOI to buy the dog

If they are found without a microchip they are held for 7 days. During that time you can place an EOI to buy the dog

A surrender is available for adoption right away.

I have called Blacktown a few times re dogs temperaments and they didn't give out info over the phone.

  19. How can they get away with saying they are not a rescue but have a form you have to fill out to foster or adopt through them. What is their excuse as to the two different stories?

Well, there doesnt seem to be website. It's based purely on Facebook.

Have you read the volunteer positions they want filled? They are looking for someone to build them a website

I am up to print screening the 7th photo of comments on Venna. This dog has had hundreds and hundreds of shares....I bet she has also raised them hundreds of dollars too.

What do you suppose they actually do with the funds?
