Yes she is a German Shepherd, no she is not a cross (the amount of times I've been asked if she is a wolf is crazy!), and yes I'm 100% sure she is purebred.

Oh, but i GSD's don't come in that colour, so her breeder must've lied to me but then when you ask if they have seen 'send in the dogs' the little light bulb goes off.

Shes not scared of you, just because she doesn't give a s**t that your there. And her moving away from you means she doesn't want you to touch her, not that she's scarred and might bite you! (although if you don't get the hint and leave be alone....) Shephers are aloof!

I was asked once if my dobe (rip ) was an Alsatian, that's just wrong on so many levels!

And no I'm not scared he'll turn on me in my sleep, or their brains grow to big for the skull and they snap, ect..

That's all I can think of with little sleep.

From my understanding you can use them but not sell them without the c tick. You also might be in trouble with insurance if the device causes a fire and burns your house down.

C tick compliance is not something that is obtained in the US, it's an Australian standard. There are many things you can import but would need to obtain certain compliance for such as motor vehicles etc - you can bring them in but not use them. Hope that helps clarify :)

Where does the department of communications do dog patrols to see if they are wearing non C tick approved Ecollars :laugh: The C tick requirement more applies to commercial Ecollar resellers within Australia.

Interesting.... I thought they were illegal to import without a permit, but not illegal to buy in Aus. I tried to buy a radio fence collar from overseas several years ago and customs siezed the collar, but not the remainder of the package (wire, instructions etc).

HOWEVER - looking here (http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/num_reg_es/ciar20085n226o2008622.html) it appears that ban has been lifted. Collars designed to bruise or puncture the skin are still illegal to import.

You can import prongs, it's just restricted (i.e. you need to have a permit).

There isn't an import restriction on e-collars but the warranty won't extend to Australia and there is no C Tick compliance which makes them illegal to use or even own anywhere in Australia. Besides that, the shipping costs usually make importing small numbers of collars quite expensive.

Our old dobe (rip) had ingrown hairs in the same spot. Bloody vet gave us a heart attack when he mentioned the word cancer. But luckily it was just the hairs. He only ever had it the once so hopefully hamish is the same!

These are photos of a 40cm, but you get the idea of how we did it.

It's doubled over (you can see where the light shows thru one side more than the other)

And how wr've taped it.

It looks dodgy but does the job.

Sorry I didn't take any on my dobe, he was asleep and I didn't have the heart to wake him :laugh: If you want a pic with him wearing it I'll take one later (although the 40cm is way to big on him).

We used a 35cm ecollar for our dobe. It was the perfect length but his neck was to thin, so we had to tape it a bit smaller then attach it to a collar so it would stay on. Looks pretty dodgy, but does the trick :) I can post up a pic if you like.

It took several different sizes to finally work this out, after having a few dobes at work (a vet clinic) getting to their staples.

I grew up with Dobermans and they have always been my heart breed. There is no other breed that can compare with a stunning looking Dobe .

This is exactly what I was going to write! My parents had dobes and nothing can compre to them (in my eyes). They are great looking, loyal, intelligent, low maintenance, great parents (to human babies that is) ect. I hope our kids grow up with the same experiences I had with them.

Why we chose a GSD - something different I suppose(maybe we're a little racist ad only like German dogs as we were also considering a Rotty :laugh: ), 90% of our dobes have /had health issues and watching them pass away so young (although not all their/breeds fault) really ripped my heart apart. I'm still struggling with loosing my heart dog late last year a week before his 4th bday.

So we decided on a shepherd because they have alot of the same quilities as the dobes (I'm not saying their healthier, just something different whilst I'm getting over the loss of my boy).

And we are so happy with the change, Lexi may be whiny and a fluff ball but we love her personality and temperament.

We chose working lines over show, probably cause we are a little crazy! And love a good challenge.

We hope to get another dobe in the future as honestly nothing can compare to them!

This is in different context to what is being discussed in this thread, but I can't help but agree with MonElite that shaking the prey item can't mean the dog is weak on nerve. Perhaps it means the dog doesn't have "Civilian Drive" but then that could be a reflection of the dog's training too. But I don't think it should automatically go to meaning "weak on nerve".

My girl is the same, when she is playing by herself she crazily shakes her toys around (see example picture of her nuttyness).

Although still only young, she is far from "weak on nerve". She has a full mouth, calm grip. She does occasionally shake if playing with a tug (learnt behaviour as she did it once and ripped it out of our hands, so she now knows it can get her the toy) but it is not due to her nerves.

Anyways back to topic... And more cute puppy pics are needed :D
