  1. You can send the hearts up here mine adore hearts! Its what they had for dinner last night. Yum yum and the nursing mum is very very keen on them at the moment.
  2. Good on you Westiemum I was actually going to suggest she PM you for a chat. I know that you had fun even with your rescue and got him pretty cleared up before rehoming him.
  3. Hi renetta I doubt anyone will let you just run loose with your pup on sheep. What state are you located in as most states have herding groups whether they are on private property or on CCC grounds. All will offer you advice on starting your pup in herding as well. Come and join the BC thread as well and show off your pup too
  4. Congrats Happie In regards to washing ears just make sure you lather the EPO well in and around her ears and leave it in for 5 mins then while that is in give her a really good body massage and the occassional ear rub. Rinse and then repeat. Most dogs adore having a good all over massage and will quite happily sit or stand there while it is going on. In regards to drying start off at a low temp and low speed and go gently gently. The occassional treat for behaving nicely or another old trick is to put some peanut butter at head height and let them lick while you play with the dryer on them. Good luck and hope pup gives you lots of licks
  5. Hi Happie To start with EPO shampoo you need to be double washing twice a week until you get things under control. Then you can go to washing once a week. It is not full of salt so is extremely gentle on dogs skin so therefore the ability to wash frequently. Good luck cortisione is not nice for any of our dogs to be on
  6. i hardly call Groomers that expensive. If you are so concerned about the price think about what you pay for any of the ones your vet pushes. Give Lynda and Archie a ring they will be happy to talk about what is most appropriate for your needs. They are extremely approachable and no nonsense in regards to the information they provide. I am sure they would be able to also provide you with a cost for postage to Sydney with little fuss too.
  7. Today we had to say goodbye to our gorgeous gentleman Zac aka Ch Korella Mystic Legend CD ET HIC. Zac was diagnosed with osteosarcoma just over 4 weeks ago so to have had him for those extra 4 weeks has been a blessing for us. Zac came to us from Korella Border Collies thanks to Gloria White driving him down from Wagga Wagga. He was the most gorgeous fluffy puppy i had ever seen. He was a huge cuddler and was so laid back and gentle. Traits he continued on with throughout his life. Thank you to his breeders Ross and Sigrid from the bottom of our hearts for the life you entrusted into our care. He was a wonderful tribute to his mum Gabby and his dad Hudson. Zac was a clown at the best of times. He loved the girls and he loved other people and any attention he could get. Zac gave me many special moments in the obedience ring when he decided that something over there was interesting or someone over there looked more fun than me. He lagged but he always came up and did what ever hand signal had been given. Thanks Yildiz for all the help you gave us in getting Zac through to his title. As for tracking well Zac had a mind of his own there too. He managed his pre trial track and his Track 1 and as for that elusive track 2 it was not to be. He tried but he just wouldn't be a part of it. But there was nothing like his "slam dunk" at the end of the track that he could throw in the air with great gusto and let it drop to the ground to hear it make the silly noises he loved. Then when he had had enough he would crush it and that was the end of the noise. In the Show ring Zac was a multi in group award winner. An older style gentleman with a penchant for flying his tail at times. He loved to tell everyone how special he was by barking before he went in the ring. He floated on the end of the lead with his clean movement. Thanks to Hussy and Karrin for helping to show him over his time in the ring. Zac loved to be with the girls and it was nothing for him to scale 7 foot fences to be where they were. He loved to dance and prance and court his girls as if they were the one and only love of his life. When we moved to our new property Zac disappeared for a week. We thought we had lost him for ever then. But back he came 6 days later looking none the worse for wear and definitely not starving. He settled in and was back to his fence jumping soon after. He would head down to our front dam and spend hours in the water barking at dragon flies and just swimming around and around. Zac lives on in his progeny not only through the Wylie prefix but also through Mystiqview, Jazippy, Beauglen, Hotnote, Hotlee, Robatife and Elindanjah. His progeny all show his softness and gentleness and his zest for life. Zac now lays to rest overlooking his favorite dam where he can continue to watch the dragonflies zip around the water. Thank you Ross for all the support over the last few weeks. It has been a privilege and an honour owning Zac throughout his life time. He has given us so much love and so many memories which we will hold for ever in our hearts. Rest easy my gorgeous man you are no longer in pain. We will miss you so very much. R.S.G!!! Cath and Andrew and the Wylie Crew Wylie Border Collies and Australian Shepherds.
  8. The term for dogs is "obligate canivores'. Which basically means that there diet consists of meat and bones however they will eat fruit and veg at times but it is not an essential or needed part of there diet. Guess its like us and Maccas its not needed or essential as part of our diets either. LMAO!!!
  9. dogone I think you will have the best results by using both. The food supplement feeds the skin and coat from the outside and the shampoo feeds the coat from the outside. It is a system that works well if done properly. I have had mums to be on it and whilst feeding puppies and then a drip or two in pups meals when they have been weaned and have had the most stunning coats ever with it.
  10. Apparently who ever was importing into Australia is no longer. It is extremely difficult to get a hold of any either in the cream or gel.
  11. Groomers Royal Jelly will not soften coat!! Border Collies should have a slightly harsh outer coat and a soft undercoat. Its what I expect when i wash my dogs as well.
  12. Actually rather than EPO food supplement and shampoo you would be better off with Royal Jelly. It will require effort from you over the first 6 weeks of washing twice a week but it does work well. Having Border Collies i use it all the time to keep coats in good nick and after a coat blow. Even my pap has had good results with it. She is currrently naked and not being shown but will be started on it as of today to get her coat back in order. Last time she looked stunning within about 4 weeks and just looked better and better till she had her season.
  13. When my friend is next on line i can ask her but it might not be for a few days. She is an expat Aussie living overseas. So when i catch her is when i catch her!!

  15. I have a friend who is a T Touch practitioner who is helping me with some issues with a couple of my dogs. I have been extremely impressed with the results so far with the 2 i have worked with. We have done some t shirt work and i was about to start some wrapping work as well. I will be using some of the T Touch stuff on any litters i have from now on.
  16. Well i am going to have a brag too about one of my bred by Border Collie girls. Orla is 9 months old and she and her owner have only taken up herding in the last 4 weeks or so. A fortnight ago she managed her first HIC pass and a PT pass in Tassie. Then this weekend she gained her second PT pass to gain her title. Orla is the first in the litter to gain a title with 3 other girls hot on her heels. Poppy/cath, Lunar and Kinta are firing up as well for there herding titles in the next month or so. I am looking forward to next month to seeing Poppy/cath in the flesh as i have not seen her since she was 14 weeks old. She will be working towards her PT and then hopefully on to the Herding Nationals in Vic at the end of June. Go the Wylie "Paws" litter. And Yes Leopuppy i laughed when i heard what my Kinta was going to be named. She is also almost ready to trial in CCD and her mum is hoping she will be another OC dog for her.
  17. Well i have a little brag hehe!! I jst spent a wonderful day with Lynda while she has been up here in QLD. She finally got to meet all the Wylie crew. She has met a few but now she has met them all. It was so wonderful to catch up with her and talk dogs. She is thrilled to pieces with all the DOLers who are now using the Groomers range of products. And the next shipment is due at the end of the month. So all back orders will be filled and she is sure that she will then have to put in another large order to keep up with demand.
  18. LA -OC Lynda will be home mid week from my understanding. Give her a ring then and make a time to go out and see her. I can recommend but she is the "Guru" Depending on what you are wanting as an outcome will be the main issue. But if she has no skin issues then Royal Jelly shampoo and the food supplement is always a good option.
  19. Catsmother can Lynda or Archie send you up some of the Raindrops shampoo in the meantime. Its the salon range of the shampoos and also doesnt contain any of the salt and other stuff in it. Or ask if they have any of the blue pearl EPO shampoo in the meantime. It wont hurt to use that all over your BC. A lot of the other shampoos will probably just dry out the coat and you will have to start all over again.
  20. Hi Ish I had a 2 year old BC break every bone in her foot from fence climbing when she reefed it out. She had major surgery including a bone graft from her shoulder and a plate and 10 pins. She too was soft bandaged but with a pulycarbonate support. The bandage was changed weekly then fortnightly. She was only allowed short walks on lead for 12 weeks then a build up over the next 6 weeks. She was originally quite wary of putting her foot on the ground and continued to hobble on 3 legs even when the cast came off. Over time and being allowed some free time to run she began putting her foot on the ground more and more. She now uses her paw without issue and unless you know would not pick which is her b*&%ed foot. She swims and she runs tho her gait is still a little off as her foot is fixed permanently in position. You know when her foot is sore as she will hold it up off the ground. We did a lot of work with her in getting her to hold it and weight bearing with her foot. We bandaged her other foot and got her to stand for different periods. We would hold her other foot off the ground and make her balance. You have to remember it is just like us when we have been through major surgery its getting used to the feeling that it is different. Muscle wastage is a huge issue and we also did a lot of massage work and stretching to get her used to the new feelings in her foot. The dumb blonde (tho she is black and white) is now quick and agile on her feet, plays like a hooligan, swims and runs with the pack without issues. The fence climbing has ceased however we now try and do sqeeze thru gates. Ughhhhhh!!!!!
  21. Congratulations Wendy and Gambit. I am sure Yildiz is stoked for you both. Keep up the good work and he too can be an OC!!
  22. Well i am well pleased as one of my little girls did well over the weekend. Wylie Paws Ability aka Cath (Poppy) at 8 months old managed a HIC pass and a HT pass. And she did it with 2 different handlers. Poor dad Colin wasnt to good on his feet on Sunday so Grandma Ann handled her. Little Cath has big footsteps to fill!! And must also live up to her dad Colins expectations. So my thanks must go to the club and the judges.
  23. HI Loraine Yes it will probably take a few washes for Zedley to get some of those lumpies back down. Every dog is different remember. Just keep it up and make sure you have blow dried Zedley to push the EPO into the shaft of his coat hair. The EPO he is getting in his food will be assisting to help his system to cope better with time.
  24. Well my Border babies get chicken necks and broken up chicken carcasses from the time they start teething and really eating. The Pap babies even get them! I currently have a 10 week old and a 12 week old happily munching on turkey necks. They usually get chicken necks so today was something different for them. My babies dont tend to be gutses and chew everything well. Guess its cos they are so used to getting lots of raw foods.
  25. Wagalot I suggest you ring Yildiz and talk to her!! I know she had issues with Tank and her girl when i saw her at Melbourne Royal last year. She was put on a regime by me which has worked really well for her. She knows what she is doing in regards to coat care now. I believe in many ways your breeder should always be your first point of call for information in regards to showing and breeding as if they dont know they can always point you in the right direction.
