  1. A "GOLDEN" GOOD-BYE

this was writen bye Holly W.Gray for Shockie the golden retriever

I sit and try to write the wpords, I want your heart to hear.

Hoping to find some comfort, in the fact that your not here.

I look out into the open field, that you once occupied,

Knowing now that field is empty, because my love, you've died.

I do believe with all my heart, that your soul has gone to be,

Wuth all the other angel dogs, that you were meant to see.

We will have to stay behind, until god calls us too

So do not be afraid, that he's only called for you.

The water is stil, in the pond that you played,

And your bed is empty, where your pretty head laid.

Our bed is empty, where you once laid between,

the two people who LOVED you and now only dream,

that one day our eyes will shut one last time,

and you will come to greet us, angel of mine.

Until then, I'll kepp trying to see through the tears,

with memories you left us, to reflect through the years.

We'll never forget one minute we spent,

of loving and laughing, the places we went.

And I dread the day that your sent disappears,

for it's "proof" to me,Shockie, that you were just here!

But one day will come, when we'll remember just "you".

Now you go and play, and look down when you can'

remembering we love you,and this isn't the end.

    thats beautiful. ;)

  2. Thank you so much Monica!

Stevie and I have been promoted to 4th class for our local dog training group. We get to play with the equipment now! Stevie's had one little go over the ramp, tunnel, table etc, she didn't like the ramp first time but had a second go with no problems.

Now I have to get good enough with my commands to justify having such a smart beautiful dog. How much time should I spend each day going over the same commands with her? She gets bored pretty easily. I want to practice so that she doesn't expect food, and so that she looks at me instead of my pocket.

I didn't really didn't enjoy the first few lessons we went to, and have been pretty slack at turning up. We had to keep sitting and waiting for slightly psycho dogs to stop bounding around (Monica knows what I mean!), and Stevie would get bored or spend all her time trying to find other people's dropped food. However now that we're going to be moving to the next level, it's going to be lots more fun!

    congratulations.

  3. I didn't take any time off work when I got Benson as I hadn't been in the job long enough to have annual leave accrued. We collected him after work on the Friday night and had two days to settle him in, then back to work on the Monday morning. He was 10 weeks old and was fine in the back yard on his own. My kids got home from school before us and they made sure he wasn't alone for long.

i was just going to ask if anyone had not taken time off work when they got a new puppy, but you already answered!
