  1. Are you still alone in here Monteba?

Hope your girl is going well. :crossfingers:

LOL yep all on my lonesome I am thinking that she is pregnant will know more in a week or so

I dont do ultrasounds to check so it is all wait and see here

I don't do ultra sounds either, I play the waiting game ,

  2. I just recieved my prefix a few weeks ago with Vic Dogs, my 1 st 6 were rejected ,then out of the second lot of 6 , the 2 nd one was accepted, here in Victoria , we have to be a member for 12 months , then sit and pay for a breeders exam test which you must pass before you can even put your application in for your prefix, I was just so happy in the end to have a prefix I didn't care what name was selected out of the ones I submitted as I liked them all

  3. 2 nd opinion today , both are there , not completely down, Vet thinks he is a slow maturer, and his testes are small, but he will be okay for breeding, going to check him again in 2 weeks, so looking better than it did last week
    that should ring alarm bells

It does a bit, it is still a waiting game , the pup in question is now 13 and a half weeks, the breeder has promised a refund if all is not well

  4. If the pup turns out to have retained testicles, then my view is that you are entitled to a refund or a replacement. Of course the cost of the pup are not the only costs involved with importing so who would pay those is less clear.

I know, there was his air fare, then Qantas take a fee for handling on pick up from the airport and also

had to pay customs 10% of the purchase price for the puppy

  5. Thank you Rebanne and Sandra for your replies, there is nothing on his vet check for export that he had 2 testicles, on contact with the New Zealand vet he has no documentation except on his own records that he was checked twice and had both testes, he said he is not obligated to supply on his export health check that he has 2 testes, breeder still claims he is holding them up, not sure what that is , but surely he would not hold them up for a week, he is contacting the breeder in question to see what can be worked out , I have never heard of a male dog not having a scrotum?

  6. If you bought a 12 week old puppy from New Zealand for the purpose of stud duties when he is old enough, he arrives a little traumatised from the trip, but starts to settle down nicely, a week later he is examined by your own vet who states that his testes are not there and he has no scrotum, you contact the breeder in question whose only reply is , they were both there when he was exported over, he must be holding them up, would you play the waiting game and see what develops , the pup will be getting another vet's opinion next Wednesday, the vet that examined the puppy has put it in writing and sent his opinion of the puppy to the Breeder , what would be the obligations of the breeder in these circumstances and what would you do as a breeder if it was a pup bred by you

  7. I am in Melbourne and use Craigeburn Vet Hospital, I find them very good, my little Jack Russell terrier was treated there a few weeks ago, and ended up being in the clinic for 4 days, I cannot fault the service they provided, every phone call was returned by her vet and I was kept up to date with all her tests and results , she is home now happy and healthy , the fees were very reasonable as well,

  8. Hi, If It was me I would contact the breeder just to let her know. I hope your girl is ok. My thought is it is unlikely they got in on the plane unless their was other dogs on the plane and one had it?

Two of mine have had it but no antibiotics were needed it cleared up on its own, they were around a dog for 1 minute that was coughing and the next day they were coughing too. Highly contagious.

I will contact the breeder, just to let them know, I am pretty sure there was other dogs on the plane as other's were being picked up at the same time, she is still eating and playing, I honestly thought she had something stuck in her throat, as she does like to chew , she is worse late afternoon and at night,

  9. My poor baby , who is 9 and and 1/2 weeks old has kennel cough, she is on antibiotics, her full sister that came down on the flight with her has also got it, she is not sick, still eating, but just sounds like she is trying to clear her throat, should I contact the breeder , or could she have got it coming down on the plane,

  10. My friend has a puppy , she imported to be shown and bred from at a later stage, she would have been approx 5 months old when she arrived in Australia from New Zealand, she is now 11 months, old she shows fear at everything, when out walking ,an empty bottle will set her off, a new blanket in her crate, ect, there is no way you could show the puppy with this behaviour , she is frightened of everything, so my friend paid to have a proffesional dog whisper visit, reccomended by her Vet, he was there for 3 hours observing the pup, , he blames lack of socialising by the breeder when she was little and said that the pup has something in her brain that switches on and off, he advised that the puppy maybe should be put down as he didn't think she would show much improvement, this was after saying that he would need her for at least 8 weeks to try and rectify her problem , any suggestions would be most appreciated

  11. Not all BYB as they are called are unethical, I live on a farm and have owned horses and dogs all my life,In the past I have bred my dogs 2 times, both are registered but with different associations, but are the same breed, both have there paperwork,I know where every one of her pups are, I have the pup back if the owners are going on holidays, One I have had back 3 times for a holiday , I screen puppy buyers very carefully , my pups have all been raised inside, are well socialised, vet checked, immunised and microchipped before leaving at 8 weeks old, I have been to many breeders properties, a lot are filthy, the dogs are penned all the time with no social skills whatever , flea infested , I have also been to a lot of good ones, what I think I am trying to say is there is good and bad in every thing, and every body has a right to be judged accordingly, yes I think the girl is in the wrong or she simply doesnt know any better,, but she needs help, the deed is allready done,I am now a registered breeder and own 3 ANKC dogs, will I do any thing different now that I am a registered breeder, no, my dogs are still part of my family, are very much loved, I research my lines and know what direction I want to go in, as well as having a mentor in the breed I have

  12. My boy is 7 years old, he came from a reputable breeder, is an Australian champion , was the bloodlines I wanted for my girls , he has been here for about 4 months now and is an absolute little treasure, this will be his forever home now, he is part of our family , I will keep one of his sons to run on, he is very sociable, well mannered , excellent temperment , I cannot thank the breeder enough for letting me have this special little fellow, there is ethical breeders , in the same breath I cringe when I see bitches that have been speyed looking for new homes and desexed males advertised , as breeders and owners we owe these dogs love and commitment or we need to know the home personally they are going to, my boy came from a fellow breeder and I also have a bitch that I have had for numerous years from her, he was never advertised or not wanted, the breeder just felt he would have a better life still having his girls than being desexed

  13. No, she hasn't been put off, but it was a big learning experience for her, it is a shame as she loves all animals and has been brought up with animals all her life, we live on a farm and she spends holidays here and every second week end as well, we have ponies, cows, goats and my JRT's , so she is very confident around animals, the bruises are starting to heal and she has a laugh about it now, her school will not be sending any more students there for work experience any more , which is good,
