  1. See the specialist ASAP, the antique x-ray equipment the vet is using may not be able to pick up the real issue. This happened to me, I stuffed around for months wtih medication and vet x-rays, when I finally got referred to the specialist. The specialist x-ray picked up a bone fragemnt in her elbow right away and had it removed but it had gone on for too long and now she has arthritis in the joint as well

We are going to just eliminating all other possibilities. How did she recover from the operation?

  2. My 3 old stafford starting limping a few months ago.We took her to the vet who took X-rays and didn't find anything. She was put on anti-inflams but the limp didn't improve.she then had a series of infra red treatments on her hock, which is swollen,by another vet who suspects it's a floating piece of bone or cartlige. That didn't work.Another visit to a third vet who thinks the bone chip may be about to break off as it didn't show up in the first set of X-rays.another lot of ant-inflames and bed rest!!!!!!!!, before visiting a specialist vet and an operation.

our last attempt before the specialist is a visit to a chiropractor. she is a very active dog who loves to jumprun around with her mates and go on walks.

has anybody experienced these symptoms with their dog?

  3. I have entered the 2 shows on Saturday at Taree this weekend. Today I got 1 number instead of the normal 2.

Are they only having one number for the whole weekend, or am I missing a number?

And does any one know the breed break down for the shows, because none were included with my numbers?

    Thank you

Be thankful you actually got your numbers. I have received nothing and had to ring the show secretary to find out if I was entered...

Hi....I'm driving up early Friday morning for the show and haven't received my numbers yet?

  4. I use the following (you can now get reserve certificates)

    Dog CC- Dog Challenge Certificate

Res Dog CC - Res Dog Challenge Certificate

Bitch CC - Bitch Challenge Certificate

Res Bitch CC - Reserve Bitch Challenge Certificate

    BOB - Best Of Breed

RUBOB - Runner Up Best Of Breed

    BIG - Best In Group

RUBIG - Runner Up Best In Group

    BIS - Best In Show

RUBIS - Runner Up Best In Show

I don't shorten the the class in groups/shows JIG, JIS etc

ANKC removed the word reserve in group a few years ago and said it is to only be used for reserve CC,

I still see people use it - mainly QLD'ers.

Thank you Sway...My dog has been awarded a couple Of Reserve Dog Challenges in the last several week.Does that mean I should have collected a certificate???

  5. Hi....I am new to showing and spend a lot of time reading about it.I have seen different terminology used for Dog/Bitch Challenge and Reserve Dog Challenge. I know that it is a Dog/ Bitch Challenge certificate that's awarded but what is the correct term for reserve dog/ Bitch challenge? should certificate be at the end of it?

  7. oh that's right

I was training up my girl for the neuter classes but decided she was too old and silly

Have a fantastic time! I won't be able to be there but next time we must meet :)

Thanks guys for the info.I'm from Sydney and new to showing have heard that the grounds are very good.I'm looking forward to participating in all three shows and learning lots.

  8. Hi....I am very new to showing so this could be a bit confusing.I have a 13 month old Stafford who is been shown in junior class. He is at the top end of the standard in weight and height. He is state and Aussie bred so he could enter either of the three classes. Why place a dog in open, oz bred or state when he could be in junior or intermediate?

I moved my Schipperke bitch straight into Aus bred when she hit 18 months. I did this as there were 3 dogs already in intermediate that were constantly getting BIG or RUBIG and therefore intermediate was being knocked out. There is also an older full brother being shown in intermediate so wanted to give them both a chance if they were entered at the same shows. Another place I show there are also 2 Schipp bitches in the same class and whilst my girl wins 95% of the time I like to give th2 others a chance too but bottom line is she's good enough and competitive enough to be in that class.

Thank you for your advice.I only show one dog so it's not for spreading them around it's more a size issue.

  9. Hello everyone, I have noticed one of my pointers has a dryer coat than the others, he is the oldest at 7 years, and I was thinking of adding a tin of oily sardines to his diet. Would this help do you think and if so would once a week be enough or should it be more ? He is taking much longer to dry off his coat after swimming in our dam and it's just not feeling as silky as it should. They are all fed a diet of kibble and fresh lamb flaps or chicken wings and frames. He is a very picky eater and would not eat an additive to his food. Thanks for any advice. Cheers.

    Hi

I use omega 3,6,9 oil combination in my dogs food, daily, plus good quality kibble and canned sardines in oil or chicken necks. Both Staffords have beautiful, soft shiny coats.
