I am thinking of using Suprelorin® on my 2 year old golden boy as I am babysitting a female golden.
has anyone used this before or one similar,
how did it go, any side affects for the boys.

Just a comment on the hair thing.
I'm the neat freak in our house and before I had dogs I didn't like the thought of dog hair everywhere and we got two Alaskan Malamutes (go figure) which in the hair everywhere stakes is probably about a 10/10. I soon got over being too worried about it as my love for my dogs made the hair thing not bother me as much as when it was an abstract concept.
Stick vacuums are your friend.
just off topic, but what brand of stick vac do you use and are you happy with it :-)

Hi and congrats on your baby Goldie
hopefully its just that she ate something and had an upset tummy
but if you go back to normal food and it starts again, take some poo to the vets to get checked
is there any mucous on the poo, if yes it could be anything from having giardia to a reaction to wheat or certain proteins
hope your baby is feeling better soon
just as a side note, have you spoken with your breeder about how much exercise a 4 month old baby should be doing

did try a bag of the dry food, dogs liked it so ordered more
But
2 phone calls and 20 days later the wrong food turned up and another 2 unanswered phone calls ( i left messages) to let them know it was the wrong order, its been a month now so I have given up and gave the food to a friend and will never deal with them again
and in one of the early calls I was told that they would be going out of the dry food as its not what people what any more

Mary Ray is exceptionally good, however over here she would be pinged for a crowding dog - yes I know this is what is acceptable over there and any gap is penalised - In the slow pace the dogs legs were actually at an angle to the floor as he was pressing against her legs so hard.
I do love the precision and animation all her dogs have, she is one talented lady and someone I aspire to
I totally agree, great to see happy working dogs but the crowding is an issue.
and I'll get shot for this but I think the swinging arms are wrong that some people are doing. Its another signal to your dog when heeling, swinging arms move, still arms stop!

whats the opinion of people is feeding 36% protein to a golden retriever to high for them?
-
Do you shoot over your Golden or trial? Every sport can promote extremes.
the answer to both is yes!
-
I've said this before but there are variations in working lines too - needs change and so the dog changes. The US field bred ESS are different from those in the UK/NZ/Oz because they need a taller dog to cope with the heavy cover.
As mentioned you don't want a Lab mad for retrieving as a Guide Dog either
If a retriever is that mad for retrieving its uncontrollable that is a wrong temperament!
my golden boy is on the go and loves retrieving and obedience but is easy to live with
and his dad is a Sup CH and mum is a Gr CH
these dogs where breed for a job and they should be able to do that job And do well in the show ring!
not like our poor cocker spaniel half hour run in a park and I'm an hour grooming the knots out of the coat :-(
the flushing instinct is still there but the coat is wrong :-( for what they where breed to do!

my niece has a 6 month old American Staffordshire, it has had vomiting and diarrhea so she took him to the vet and he said the pup is sensitive to fat. so we are looking at new foods, on black hawk now.
my question is at this age what percentage of protein should he be getting and how low would you go with the fat content?
the breeder is not interested so no help there!
My Staffy also suffer with sensitive stomach (IBD) he was put on "Eukanuba Intestinal" low residue kibble this was the only kinble that has worked being a low residue kibble it breaks down easy so less work on their stomach & bowel u can buy online it is a vet prescription kibble "Pet Circle" deliver to ur door for the same price as the vet sell it for... the fat-10% & fiber-1.70%, Eukanuba also make Intestinal Plus but this has more fiber-4% & didnt work for my boy, the Intestinal worked the best, my boy didnt do well on Black Hawk the fat is 12-13% to high also Eukanuba make "Sensitive digestion" sold at Pet Barn very similar to their Eukanuba Intestinal a low residue kibble but the fat% is 13% a bit higher then their Intestinal vet diet,
thanks for that will pass it on as she is still having trouble with him
-
thanks for the replys, will tell her to get a second opinion.
turns out that she had given pup a bone and the vet did not even check the poo sample

the grain free one has been working for one of my boys for awhile now, good coat and good poo's :-)
the one that had the problem with it is now on KD from the vet so no wonder it did not work for him :-)

went onto their web site and decided that I'd like to try the Wholesome Bits™ Large/ Giant Adult but now can not find where to buy
does anyone else know about where to get this?
sorry I'm not great with comps :-(
-
can the people that are trying this please came back in a couple of weeks and let us know how its going for them :-)
-
just want to wish this dog and new owner all the best :-)
I understand that some breeders have be wronged by people and there dogs used unwisely.
BUT we are not all bad people and I think it should be looked at case by case.
I myself have 2 entire males that I work with and my boys will NEVER be used at stud
don't jump the gun and judge every one as a BYB

this is a great group! wonderful people!

Following my vets advice, I am needing to put my dog on a 'grainfree' diet due to skin problems and allergies.
Does anyone have any recommendations on brands? I have seen the Canidae one, but this is imported and I would prefer to by an local product.
I am also wanting to try to stay away from beef also if possible?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
an Australian one is Next Generation grain free at 20kg $105 + $10 postage Australian wide
did not work for my boy but he is Very sensitive

2nd day on just Earthborn Holistic Costal Catch.
Nova loves it, is eating it all in one go without any yogurt or anything on top! Hopefully it will continue.
If he gets itchy on this (nothing yet) or goes off it, I will look at trying Wellness Core as they also have a Fish based grain free.
our cocker does well on the costal catch, hope it works for your boy :)
our very sensitive golden does well on the Canidae sky
and the other golden really likes (will not eat canidae) Wellness large breed which is at petbarn, they also have wellness core which is grain free but like most grain free food is high protien

yep we have 3 different foods going here but its what works for each dog
-
I was just wondering if anyone had any updates on if they tried this food and how their dogs were going on it?
I have 2 boys and one did ok on this the other painful child did not.(both goldens)
I was worried about the biscuit it is paper thin

no she is not in season now and I do have separate areas for them. suppose I am being a bit paranoid, but really do not want any oopsie
just thought that if people have used it with no side affects to the boy, it would just be safer.
