  1. I don't mind just using a bag to pick up the poo, but it would be nice to have something to then put it in so I don't have to walk for ages swinging along a bag of poo.

I use a small pack the dog wears... (obviously after picking said poo in a plastic bag)

then he can carry his own s#!7

  2. With the front feet/paws of dogs you can see the 5 digits (Phalanx's) mammals usually have, the thumb not being in contact with the ground.

But the rear paw on most dogs there is only 4. (on my sibe at least)

So my question is which "toe" did they loose; the Big toe or Pinky??

    Sorry, I'm not a scientist/vet so I don't know the correct terminology.

  3. A discussion has started at home because I've got a graze on my leg,

I'm not that aghast against my dog licking my wound aslong as it doesn't go too far (and I have to stop him continuing)....

...My partner is not too keen on it. Now we've both heard the myth about dogs licking your wounds, but a search online has raised both for & against reasons.

Obviously different dogs will have different habits (eating poo etc) but where lies some type of consensus. Have I been sucked into old wives tales?

What do the DOLforumites think on the matter??

  5. the 3rd night I'd gotten Oz he ran between my legs and tripped me...

reach my foot out to stabilise myself and it landed on his foot (he was 12 week at the time).

That's when the neighbours knew I had a dog, yelp'd for a few mins and had a tender foot for a day.

Since then he still sometimes crosses in-front of people, but an "out of the way" commands gets him clear (although he's caused a trip from me since then he knows what can happen). And I'm not the lightest of fellows. They'll learn by experience.

  6. I'm feeding my 6 mth old Husky 2 meals a day, the larger at night.

Will probably keep that up til fully grown then bickies in the morning and proper meal at night (which'll be a change cause he gets bickie mixed in at night and none in the morning atm)

  7. Thanks SBT, I'll remove the pots (plastic tubs also just to be sure).

He gets a bone in the morning during the working week, but lately he's been grabbing the pots either when I'm home or when I go out to pick my partner up.

Most things atm are barricaded but he sly'd the last one and I didn't know about it until I got back from walking him and my partner showed me. (My partner loves her plants and gets upset when the plants are destroyed)

I'll also see about the deterrent sprays etc.

    Thanks everyone :cheer:

  8. Hi, I'm been having problems with my 5 & 1/2 month old Sibe puppy.

He's been grabbing small plant pots (with plant in them) and chewing/playing with them, thus leaving the plant & potting mix strewn around the yard.

We've taken steps by barricading the plant off with rocks and weighing them down with lots of stones etc but he just goes to the next easiest option. (this case plant on top of his kennel... which he never uses darn it)

Now I've been given the "fix it now or else" option by my *SO.

Now he has various toys (various balls, tug-ropes plus stuffed toys and sqeeky/chew bones... although he doesn't like the hard rubber toys).

Plus he loves to play with palm fronds that have fallen off the tree. which there are heaps in the yard.

    but...

He also has 2 ice-cream tubs he plays with plus we've given him 2 of the plant pots to play with aswell.

(Now was giving him hard plastic items a no-no as he'll associate ALL such items as toys?)

I play with him most morning for 10 mins before I go to work and again play after work and he gets a 30-45min walk every day. Is this enough or should he get more, and more focussed play? he also attends weekly obedience training.

He has the full yard to play (all around the house, front back sides etc ~720 m2).

or will we just have to cordon off the plants til he gets older and I deal with the wrath?

    Kind regards

    Mr Snow
