Hey I'm looking for suggestions for materials to use in a dog run which isn't easy to break if the dogs are determined.
Any Suggestions Please? I have White Shepherds 1 which weighs about 50kg

Well I submitted mine in december finally got it back about 2 weeks ago I also wasn't notified about my test result. oh and they lost the first application it apparently didn't get to them in the mail. I'm with Dogs QLD. But I'm not purchasing my domain name for at least 4 months just in case someone has a problem with it.

I decided to wash the dog this morning ... I washed the older boy no problems.
Went to wash the younger one but he decides to play hard to get. Normally he is reluctant to get in the hydrobath but is no problems once he is in.
Every time I walked towards him he would take off ... so I thought I wasn't going to play his game. I let the older boy over into the other side of the yard to roll on the grass ... and told the younger one he could only go in if he had a bath too.
He looks at me seriously ... ran up and down the fence line crying and then took off.
I followed him and found him sitting in the hydrobath waiting for his bath!!!!
He was bathed and once he was let out ... sat at the side gate until I opened it and let him into the other side of the yard to play ...
I am negotiating with a dog ...
Well at least that makes it easier to bath him :)
If you had a Koolie you would feel outsmarted by your dog every single day.
 they wear you out don't they ;)
My boy was only home for about a week when he learnt to open the latches on the crate ... I had to put clips on them so he didn't open the crate at night ...
When he was still little we used to keep both dogs separated on either side of the yard during the day when we were not home to supervise but every afternoon when we got home both dogs were on one side of the yard. Couldn't find any holes so we thought the older boy was jumping the fence - so we extended the fence. It was only after I was home sick one day that we worked out the younger dog was opening the latch on his side of the yard and letting the older dog in so they could play. Now if they need to be separated for any reason ... I use a padlock on the gate as he hasn't worked out how to remove them yet
He can turn on the garden taps ... so they have to be turned off and the handles removed.
Sounds like my Great Dane X I kept being told by the neighbours that my dog was out and every time I got home he was happily at home in bed :) since I've been on holidays he has proven just how he got out.... under the gate through the wheel track that he has been making deeper each time it rains now at least we know and now we have to cement the driveway to keep the ingenious dogs in
Every year when we take them to the snow about 2 hours into the trip Kodiak works out how to use the button to work the electric windows in the car. We have to lock them or she spends the next 8 hours playing with them
We used to live next to a couple that had a GSD they would tie up before they left for the day. Our terrier would wander over 15 minutes after the left, chew through the rope (in the middle) then pick up the end still attached to the GSD and spend the rest of the day holding the rope in his mouth and leading the GSD around the properties
Now that would be a sight to see. Did the owners ever find out and come up with a solution?

I have been looking through the prefixes on the fci website and comparing them to the dogs qld magazine and of all the prefixes that I have entered the only 1 that I have been able to find is Alaskan Malamute breeder Darksky. the fci website says they update their website prefixes every week. I am just wondering how often the ANKC updates FCI on the breeders prefixes that have been approved? And can our prefixes be approved in another country?

I'm new to the show scene and I am just feeling my way at the moment. I have a White Swiss Shepherd. I am a larger woman and I don't feel comfortable in knee length skirts but longer skirts I'm fine with. I'm just wondering whether long time show people would recommend it or does it just look out of place? This is the Skirt I'm looking at with the matching jacket would it be out of place?

I'm sorry but that advice from your trainer is ridiculous Don't put your dog or anyone elses dog in that position because it will just lead to fights and won't do anything to help your training if I was you I would find a new trainer
-
My only advice is to keep them separate. It's not that hard, just fence off part of your yard or build a run. Dogs can still be 'together' outside but can't get at each other, you will be more relaxed knowing the pup is safe too.
This is what I currently do and it is working, the other dogs are slowly learning to be calm so they can be with the pup but until the pup is a lot bigger they are going to be separate, except for supervised times together or the pup decides to climb the fence because she is over excited to get to me. though she has only been with me for 3 weeks I have a lot of training to do with all my dogs.

I'm sorry I can't help but I am dealing with a similar situation now and will be interested to see other responses

I'm looking at either behaviourist, vet nursing or animal attendant where I live I would need to do any course by correspondence as my local TAFE does hardly anything. I have been looking at a behaviourist course through companion animal behaviour institute (cabi.com.au) and animal studies through open colleges
-
I am wondering what courses everyone would suggest would be helpful to get into the pet industry?
Which study organisations would everyone recommend?
I'm not sure which area I want to get into so am just looking for suggestions

Yes she is adorable but has lungs like a banshee and knows how to use them
-
Well now we have had a couple of hours sleep here is Alexi

Thanks for your replies she responds to any moving object which is good i just hadn't seen any dog react the way she did and i now believe it was my hands she reacting to.

Hey I have a question my new puppy is a very interesting dog. She has the voice and lungs of a banshee, she is a tester (who will give in first) and I have just discovered she has a high drive for red lights.
With red light she has understood sit and drop she wouldn't do this for me with treats. I haven't tried this during the day but I was wondering is it likely that you can train a dog with light?

Her name is Alexi or Pup Pup Alexi as she currently answers to :) soon I'll be weaning her off Pup Pup :)

So after a long wait and a LOT of mistakes from the transport company I have my puppy. The Flight was an hour late so when she got to me she was so thirsty. She is so much smaller then I thought she would be but my last white shepherd is twice the size of normal so Alexi must be about right in size. She will definitely be a testing pup we had nowhere near as much screaming from the other dogs we have.
She is a little worn out for the moment
-
Sorry for your loss

Very poor, hey have they picked the puppy up from the breeders, (do they have your pup at their depo??)
The breeder was dropping the puppy at the airport so she still is in good hands, just frustrated hands :)

I'm still trying to talk to someone in charge to get an answer I'm not happy at all my first call to them was at 840 then I left a message for the boss at 9 and now I have just called them again and he's stepped out of the office.
Don't you just love customer service from a company that says they care

My Saffioraire puppy arrives on Monday :) at 12.15pm at Cairns Airport I can't wait to finally meet her. Her name will be Alexi, joining Akasha and Amigo (all A names )

Hi again everyone again. My puppy will now be coming on Monday. Cairns Air Express depots are either closed or require a huge extra fee ($220) on top of $320 just for the transport for australia day or public holidays cause .
I can't wait to finally meet her.
