  1. No one believes the story about the dead kelpie. As for the pound, it is an absolute disgrace! Small concrete pens, no bedding, no litter trays for cats, faeces everywhere, dogs/cats left in drop off pens for a couple of days before being put in kennels. The council really needs to employ at least 1 more ranger as it is ridiculous expecting one person to do it all. Having said that I must add that the ranger is probably the most hated man in town but as I've had no dealings with him myself I won't repeat the horror stories I have heard. Many people have volunteered to help at the pound (myself included) but council won't allow it for insurance reasons. They will also not accept bedding for the animals so they are left to freeze. There is a lot of anger about the situation at the moment so we're hoping changes will be made and soon! It does seem strange that long-term residents have never seen the old kelpie with the ranger and as for it being hosed down during the alleged fight, why wasn't the body removed if someone was in attendance, why wasn't the other dog wet? There was no one there when visitors discovered the dead dog and the "dangerous" emaciated dog was lying there shivering in the cold until it came over to the fence to be patted. :mad

  2. I think you need to relax and chill, we cant be responsible for other peoples behaviour, only how we react to it.

I stopped taking my dogs to the kids soccer years ago, as parents would let their kids charge over and annoy my dogs and I spent more time watching that than my daughter playing soccer.

The final straw was a child of about 3 who before I realised had my BT in a head lock face to face one morning while the parents just looked on and laughed.

you have to accept not everyone is dog savvy, and you can come over as crazy dog owner if you are not careful, softly softly works much better.

The other thing is ,don't get so stressed around your dogs, they will pick up on it.

    Yep!

being there or not is a very personal thing. One that I personally think is not for anyone else to judge. I always am other people can't do it.

agree.. it is harsh to expect that all people are emotionally able to stay with their dog whilst it is being euthanised..

I have stayed with all bar 1 of mine and i still feel like i betrayed him

  3. As I thought it would be, lumping responsible hunters in with people committing acts of animal cruelty, blatantly disregarding the law and APDHA and DPI guidelines to support Clover Moores push for the banning of hunting pigs with dogs.

Imagine all dog breeders lumped in together, the worst puppy farms in with the most ethical of breeders and the 730 report having a feature on why dog breeding should be banned. This is no different.

I fully support the punishing of people who make these videos though, it is very disturbing, they certainly are not what conservation hunting is about!

    Well said KatrinaM!
