kewl I was hoping you'd reply Sam! Yep, love the push ups idea, then we can all do them together
Sam is so modest!!
Her dogs do the following...and probably much more ;)
Wave
Bow
Pirouette
Weave between her legs while walking
Jump through her arms...
Can't remember the rest, but it's so cool to watch her with her dogs

Gosh - how tragic

All I can say is "THAT'S WHAT LABS DO!!!"

Bruce, our older dog is hopeless, but Mack, the 5 month old will come to me *almost* everytime I clap my hands.
I'm not sure if this is a good thing, but it's what I taught him and it works for us.
-
Yes, we are going to have to be very vigilant.
I don't think he has ever had water in his ears while bathing though, very careful with that.
-
Two weeks the vet thinks
Also said he's probably having trouble hearing because of it, but will be ok.
Please give your dogs regulary ear checks everyone.
-
$120 later it's a serious infection
I will have to be very vigilant in watching his ears.

I don't know anything about BARF, why to the veges have to be pulped? Is there a special reason?
We feed a combo diet and include a pile of cooked veges, but in bite sized pieces.
I also give them whole raw carrots which they crunch up.
Labradors will eat anything.

It doesn't smell, but I had a look and a clean and one is a bit red.
Could be mites...I can't tell
He's booked in to the vet tomorrow.
(btw...he's on Advocate)

Poor bugger...the Leo sent him nuts...I had to massage his ears for about 10 minutes. Obviously it tickles a bit!
He seems a little better this morning.
-
My 2 year old Lab seems to have itchy or sore ears.
He keeps shaking his head.
They are a bit brown and damp looking inside, don't smell at all.
The pup keeps licking inside them.
I got some "Leo" (?) squirt stuff this afternoon...won't be able to take him to the vet till later in the week if required.
Any suggestions (tried a search)???

At the moment I'm finding it hard to get our boys to calm down when there is food around!!
Hugs & pats and "happy voice" as rewards are working for us!

I read it all LP and it was beautiful. ;) I too never thought of rats as being anything like that (I've never "met" a pet one).
RIP little Bryce

Well, bugger!
We're feeding our little guy a puppy mix and meat/veg/rice combo which I make up. Once the dry pup food runs out we were going to start on Bonnie as it has been recommended by a few people.
So, what now?!

What about rescuing or fostering an older dog? Then you don't have two pups to train...? Just a thought. We got a 2 year old rescue lab, then a pup a few weeks later.
They are both fine outside together, no problems at all. Take the older dog away for even 5 minutes and the pup goes insane.
Other than that...laundry or garage maybe?

So far it's been back yeard with hose. Not sure what we'll do in winter though!!
-
Count me in please.
Edit: Actually NO...I'll be away then...damn! Sorry.

I have a retriever, she's 11 now (and lives with my parents). A few years ago she went to live with a friend for about 6 months and came back incredibly overweight. As soon as we had her home, she was on a strict diet...the carrot bulking works very well.
As an alternative to purchased bones all our dogs get whole raw carrots as a treat and they LOVE it! Good for the teeth too...and if you buy a bulk bag way cheaper too.
-
Is it only applicable for problem dogs? We only took delivery of our 2 year old Lab (from Cordelia's) and he doesn't seem to have any major issues, but I would like to know more about the best ways to train him.
-
My retreiver has in the past, but doesn't sound as bad as this!
We usually use Rawleighs antiseptic salve on them rather than medicate, (it has never got to that stage).
