  1. Pro Plan seems to be popular I was reading the feeding guide and it said for dogs up to 59kg so that confused me a bit seeing as will probably be 60kg plus. Everyone has such different opinions its good to see what other people think though. Thanks for the input

  2. I personally won't feed Advance to any of my bullmastiffs. Try the Pro Plan large breed puppy keep you protein levels low ie no higher than 28%.

Also when feeding raw meats pick one and stick with it for a couple weeks sudden changes in mince can cause issues as well.

We did that with the mince and stuck to the chicken with the advance dry food, but there was no difference.I cut the mince out completely to see if it would make a difference and it hasnt. So Im putting it down to the dry food. I dont want to keep changing what im feeding him because I know that can upset his stomach, it will be good to get on top of it and find a dry food that suits him. I'll do some looking around tomorrow Im sure we will be able to get Pro Plan here somewhere.

  3. Thanks for the help

They recommend Eagle Pack on the S.A Bullmastiff Club site. Think I will need to look around and see whats available to us and go from there.

Im pretty sure most of the vets here sell Royal Canin along with Advance and Hills.

He is itchy on his belly area and scratches like mad when you touch it, hes spends a bit of time on the grass so im thinking it might just be that

We have an oatmeal shampoo that we got when finishing puppy pre school has anyone found that it helps? It looks a little red so I will keep an eye on it and ask the vet. Could the food be causing that?

  4. Hi guys

I have a 4 month old bullmastiff who we are currently feeding Advance puppy large breed. He was fed this by his breeder and we have continued feeding it however his poo seems very sloppy. He was being fed the advance along with chicken, lamb or beef mince and the vet recommended feed him only the biscuits to see if anything changed but it seems to be the same maybe even a little sloppier. So the next thing we are thinking is a change of dry food? Perhaps the advance just doesnt agree with his stomach.. so the question is what is another good kibble for a giant breed? I dont want to keep changing his diet I know that its not good for him. Any opinions would be appreciated! Thanks :D

  5. We brought our 8week old bullmastiff home on Monday and he was exactly the same. Seemed really nervous of a lot of things in the house, even his food bowl making noise lol. We thought he would just need time to settle in and as he was being kept outside when we got him we realise he isnt used to inside things and all the scary noises. It's only been a few days and he is starting to get more confident already. She will just need time to settle in and get used to her new surroundings :)

  6. Hi guys, loving all the goregous puppies! We picked up our bullmastiff boy Bentley on Monday. He's been such a good boy so far, goes to bed when we do and sleeps right through until the morning. One thing that I want to ask is he seems to be getting the hiccups a lot like 3-5 times a day I have read other threads about it but I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this with their new pup? It seems to be quite random.

  7. We picked Bentley up yesterday! :cheer: lol hes gorgeous... I may be biased though. He was so good lastnight slept on his bed all night no accidents. I was expecting to be up and down all night but he just slept straight through :D. haha was a big day for him yesterday so will see how tonight goes! I'll have to post some pics its just so hard to get them!

  8. Im waiting for a bullmastiff and im not actually sure when I find out lol its all been a bit weird. I sent the breeder an email today to see how everything was going. The pups will be getting vet checked in a couple of days so im hoping we get some news then.

Yay congratulations Chihuahualover. How exciting and what a little cutie, definately have to get some more pictures when you visit him.

lol Smartypaws, treading the line of looking like a complete dog nutter  think everyone has probably felt like that at some point while waiting for their pup. Hopefully you find out soon :crossfingers:

  12. Yay how exciting Smartypaws! Cant wait to see some pictures, not to long for you now :D . Dol breed pages and google have been handy, I havnt heard of some of these breeds.

Dwilds 10months you have a massive wait! lol makes the whole 5 weeks ive been waiting look like nothing. How long does it take to get her from there to here?

:welcome: Chihuahualover. Sorry to hear about your loss. Have you found any breeders that you like the look of yet?

  13. oh no katie!! im so sorry!! :(:(:(:(

i was just thinking some breeders wont give much away about a litter early on as there is a chance they wont all make it! and nobody likes to hear bad news... but if this is not the case then i find it a little odd they havent contacted u in 5 weeks to let u know how the babies are going!! my breeder shows every weekend and works and has kids etc... and i got several pics and a litter update every week... she also had a facebook group made for her prefix so she only has to send the pics once and update once but we can all see it :):)

Hmm I guess everyone is different? I see heaps of breeders writing that they update each week etc. We havnt really heard anything, just when the litter arrived, how many pups and the colours. We did get told that she would contact us when the litter arrived and go from there. They will be 5 weeks soon so we are hoping for some sort of update or info. Kind of just going with the flow. When did you know that you would be getting your puppy?

Some stay in touch, some don't.. We got an email to find out we were on the list, then we got one when the pups were born... then that was it in terms of emails until it came to finalising who was getting which pup and organising transport. She did put weekly photos on her website, and was contactable via facebook at times... At first it upset me a bit, but then i thought hang on, raising pups isn't easy and takes a lot of time, so it's not surprising she didn't reply.

However, once pups came home.. she was always ready at the end of the phone, email or facebook.. i still share updates even now nearly 2yrs on :)

Yeah just a matter of being patient only another 3-4 weeks I guess

  14. bianca - I think you mean NILIF - Nothing In Life Is Free; TOT = Triangle of Temptation - both from the K9Pro website (or there is a TOT thread in the training area)

We use both - basically Ziva doesn't get anything without doing something for it :)

Haha after I had signed out I was thinking im pretty sure I wrote that wrong

I seen the thread Triangle of Temptation just wasnt sure of the NILIF thanks for that
