  2. ^ Just after Kochie said that he said something about Paris Hilton 'starting the trend'

...of what? Owning a Chihuahua? A seemingly healthy - if somewhat unfotunate - normal sized dog? She didn't own a *teacup*, if memory serves!

  3. Lint roller (the sticky sheets one) in handbag, one in car and one in dresser drawer. Going to get another one for mum's car.

cat + dog hairs on every article of clothing.

More pet toys come home with me from shopping trips than things for me.

adn I've only had pets for about a month!!!

  4. My husband's brother and his family have two shibas.

The eldest, a white boy - is good. Fairly well behaved, self-sufficient, confident dog.

The youngest, a red girl - is so silly! Even at 2 years of age, she is such a puppy. Naughty and slightly dumb, according to her family. Totally adorable, though  They like to kill small animals too. Leaving them on their owner's doormat.

I knew them both as puppies, and to be honest they have retained pretty much the temperament they had at a few months old.

Two very different personalities, from the same breed - and in fact they came from the same breeder!

  5. I just today noticed how rough my 11month old Chihuahua and 6.5/7 week old kitten play together. Bertie (Chi) bats kitten quite heavily with his paw, kitten doesn't seem to mind...

Besides, kitten has plenty of hiding places Bertie can't get to.

Even when kitten has had enough and arches back/swipes at Bertie, claws are in. Very proud of the tiny kitten!

  6. We wanted a small dog, due to yard and fences. I didn't want a dog that needed lots of grooming and I didn't want a dog that fell into the SWF category ( though I'd love a TT).

So, our options were Boston or Frenchie. We prefered the bulk of the Frenchie and are now owned by 2 of them.

Edited to actually answer the question.

I wanted an inside dog, and a small one. I actually looked at a few breeds (CKCS, Papillons...) but chose Chihuahua in the end. Also spent a lot of time talking to an interstate breeder/shower of Chis who turned out to be a wealth of knowledge and helped me greatly - actually still is helping me! Even though I went through a local breeder for my Bertie.

One day, we will own a CKCS, a Papillon, Beagle, mini foxie, Westie, GSD,... all my fave breeds.

  7. My mum (while sad at my being injured...) would definitely take Bertie if something happened to DH and me. Otherwise, DH's brother would, or the breeder would take him back, or another breeder friend of mine....

Bertie is a popular dog

I hate seeing notices for dogs who have to be rehomed due to owners dying or being injured sufficiently to no longer be able to care for them. It's very sad for all involved.

  8. Just a short n funny one..

We had a minor car accident on the weekend and I have a sore/stuff neck from it. My husband was rubbing Deep Heat on it this morning, I was sitting on the floor in front of him (who was on the couch).. Maui was watching on with curiosity and then jumped on the back of the couch with his paws on my husbands shoulders!

It would have made the funniest photo. It was like he was copying..

  9. I just brought little Bertie home today, he's a bit unsure of his new home and at the moment prefers to be curled up beside me on the couch - luckily my d700 was sitting on the coffee table (within reach) still set up from last night's shoot so I managed to get this of my new baby

Am on my macbook pro so I haven't done any editing or anything, it's basically as-is.

  10. If you put a watermark on your photo's can't people just get rid of it with teh 'clone' stamp?

Is there any way of making a watermark that is NOT removable?

If they're really good with photoshop, I guess.

When my photos have been stolen, the thieves haven't even bothered to remove the watermark so...meh.

  11. Also don't forget licensing. Would you transfer the copyright directly to her or would she own it for a year...?

I recommend $50-$100 for the lot and something like...

"Upon full and complete payment of this invoice, all rights in perpetuity including the copyright to the photo described herein are transfered to *insert buyer's name* his heirs and assigns. Seller warrants that he owns the all rights and copyright to said photograph and transfers them to purchaser for the agreed upon amount. Seller agrees to emdemniy the purchaser against any present and future claims by third parties including the creator of the photographand any persons or properties whose likeness is in the photograph described herein,"

    That's a sample I found online.

Just because it's your first sale doesn't mean it should be a freebie - but nor should you charge what a serious professional would. Go for an in-between. It's still your time and effort, not only to have taken the photos but also to now edit, copy to a disc, etc.

If you do freebies now...you might be stuck doing them forever.
