  1. Products that don't contribute to the health and longevity of our dogs don't deserve to be fed to our dogs. I'm increasingly frustrated by trusted professionals asking clients to feed these lines.
  2. The dog Alice who escaped was his thank heavens, it does so a bit from what I understand.
  3. I shuddered to see so many large breeds including a Great Dane in with a small dog. Owning Danes myself I know that in a moment of excitement or just being away with the fairies a Dane can accidentally stand or run over the top of or land on a small dog. From the x-rays it's clear that something more serious happened to this poor dog, it looks consistent with a pick up crunch/shake attack. Given so many average pet owners think dog parks are great for socialisation and great for the dog it's not surprising that so many people think free range centres such are ok, that's why these centres need to have experienced people to make these places as safe as possible and that would be not be mixing big and small dogs to start with. People have spoken of many attacks between dogs due to mis-match personalities, mis-interpreted initial assessments etc. If this was this centres only mistake then one could chalk it up to a really sad and unfortunate situation, however there are numerous stories online about this centre. Many stories of mis-management of dogs but more sadly a complete lack of care factor when something has gone wrong with people told "Shit happens" when their dogs come back skinny with Kennel Cough. After-all, this is the centre where Fansu the Bulldog went missing from and was found 6 weeks later requiring surgery from injuries probably received from being hit by a car....this centre didn't contribute towards those costs. I do feel for Dave, he looked very strained on the news last night and he must be having a very hard time but in the end he needs to step up and take responsibility for the incidents that have occurred at his centre and really start to make changes so these incidents can be minimised in the future. People will always use such places because willful ignorance is rife and sometimes people are left with little options of safe day care facilities.
  4. Frontline has been known to be a poor product for a long long time, perhaps choose a different product.
  5. I wouldn't simply because the science behind Nutriscan still hasn't been released as a scientific publication yet. The website says they are preparing the data for that to happen, well I would wait for that to happen and be peer reviewed. LOL right, so instead of using a test created by the worlds leading animal scientist....do an elimination diet incorrectly like most people do.
  6. Don't forget that a food trial is not just a novel protein but it also has to be a novel carb otherwise it doesn't make sense. As the Nutriscan is available I'm not sure why anyone would put themselves through the torture of a 6 week food elimination trial.
  7. They're high in Omega 3's so wouldn't hurt to have them but you'd want to make sure you don't give to many in one sitting otherwise you might get soft poos.
  8. I think some very valid points... https://www.thedodo.com/adoption-applications-perfect-family-1188877689.html?xrs=RebelMouse_fb#
  9. Rather than the tedious elimination diet, perhaps consider a Nutriscan?
  10. I just boiled pumpkin pieces and then seperated the skin after. I read that the goodies in the skin tolerates heat so which ever way you want to do it.
  11. A butternut is a squash and so is a Jap Pumpkin, but from what I have read, it makes no difference whether it is called a squash or a pumpkin, they really are all in the same family, as are Zucchini, though we don't tend to grown these out to maturity, so probably don't have the same nutritional value in the skin. At a guess, I would say the ones with the thickest skins would be best. Ones like Queensland Blue & Jarradale. .... The ones that are hard to cut. YES!! They're bastards to cut so I tend to cut and cook it all at once and Ernie gets what's left. I can't do them myself without injury risk so I had the OH do them hehe
  12. Is this any help :) "The skin of that pumpkin you carve into a Jack-o'-Lantern to scare away ghosts and goblins on Halloween contains a substance that could put a scare into microbes that cause millions of cases of yeast infections in adults and infants each year…scientists extracted proteins from pumpkin rinds to see if the proteins inhibit the growth of microbes, including Candida albicans (C. albicans). That fungus causes vaginal yeast infections, diaper rash in infants, and other health problems. One protein had powerful effects in inhibiting the growth of C. albicans, in cell culture experiments, with no obvious toxic effects. The pumpkin protein could be developed into a natural medicine for fighting yeast infections in humans, the report suggests. The protein also blocked the growth of several fungi that attack important plant crops and could be useful as an agricultural fungicide, they add." Thank you Ma'am!
  13. Yep work comes first 'cause unfortunately ribbons don't pay the bills. If I have Friday shows that I really want to go to I organise annual leave days.
  14. Some of my clients would be extremely grateful if this were accurate! I have my own atopic dog so I will give it a shot. It would be interesting if it's more for yeasty dogs than other types of itchy ones. Now...how much! Google wasn't my friend on this one so will just make a guess at dinner time!
  15. This month at Rushcutters Bay https://www.facebook...28101570606468/
  16. Kylie actually took 3 pups out of the pound, those were the ones she was allowed to take. And you can bet she would have given you a serve after you accused her of not being a reputable rescue....what you write on FB is there for the world to see. Kylie wasn't President at the time she gave you that serve but I was and had I been in that group where you posted that I would have given you my own serve in a slightly different tone. Not only did Kylie do full Vet work she also paid for the mother (not impounded) to be de-sexed....out of her own pocket. 1 of the pups had parvo and sadly didn't make it, another one broke its leg due to poor nutrition but you actually know this about the pups because she told you on FB - yes we know who you are. I understand you're passionate and a newbe to this forum but I suggest if you want to have people work with you, you be the kind of person people want to work with instead of being accusatory and hostile. Sometimes you need to look at the bigger picture and consider what behaviour you need to portray now in order to reach that goal. I won't be commenting on the matter any further because I don't feel it is beneficial to the end cause.
  17. You need to be better informed before you start making statements on a public forum. I think this is typical of an online forum by newbe members whose passion gets misguided.
  18. Sure, all rescues working together is logical and beneficial. But of course, those rescues have to have the same values i.e. desexing, vet work, safe behaviour etc. Technically they are a breed specific rescue with an offshoot 'And friends' program that looks after all-breeds from the Cowra and surrounding areas. There is no divide here between all breeds and breed specific that can sometimes be seen in rescue.
  19. When getting another dog it's best to match their energy or go a bit less. It's not going to be fair to get an active dog when your current dog isn't. You also need a size/weight appropriate dog for the Dane x. Breed isn't important.
  20. The Cowra Pound Ranger will be working with Great Dane Rescue & Friends. The 'And Friends' program is an all-breeds rescue program run by a our new President, a Cowra local who has worked us for many years and is an outstanding rescuer with my full support as the outgoing President. 21. Ms Niven has worked with me for a number of years, I trust her 100%, she is a skilled trainer and has worked with most of our rehab cases. This is not the thread to air your personal issues. This is notification thread not a political one.
  22. This isn't a political post, it is a notification post.
