NEW VACCINATION PROTOCOLS by Dr Jean Dodd (America)

I would like to make you aware that all 27 Veterinary Schools in Nth America are in the process of changing their protocols for vaccinating dogs and cats.

Some of this information will present an ethical and economic challenge to Vets and there will be sceptics. Some organizations have come up with a political compromise suggesting vaccination every 3 years to appease those who fear loss of income.

    NEW PRINCIPLES OF IMMUNOLOGY.

Dogs and cats immune systems mature fully at 6 months.

If a modified live virus vaccine is given after 6 months of age, it produces immunity which is good for the life of the pet.

If another MLV vaccine is given a year later, the anti bodies from the first vaccine neutralize the antigens of the second vaccine and there is little or no effect.

The titer is not boosted nor are more memory cells induced. Not only are annual boosters for parvo and distemper unnecessary, they subject the pet to potential risks of allergic reactions and immune-mediated haemolytic amenia.

There is no scientific documentation to back up claims for annual administration of MLV vaccines.

Puppies receive anti bodies through their mother’s milk. This natural protection can last 8 to 14 weeks. Puppies and kittens should NOT be vaccinated at less than 8 weeks, maternal immunity will neutralize the vaccine and little protection (0-38%) will be produced.

Vaccination at 6 weeks will, however DELAY the timing of the first highly effective vaccine. Vaccination given 2 weeks apart SUPPRESS rather than stimulate the immune system.

A series of vaccinations is given starting at 8 weeks and given 3 to 4 weeks apart up to 16 weeks of age. Another vaccination given sometime after 6 months of age (usually at 1 year 4 months) WILL PROVIDE LIFETIME IMMUNITY.

  2. Phuscuillum (sp) husks that you can buy at woolworths are Metamusicul without the flavouring, and a quarter of the price.

For my Chi the vet told me 1 level teaspoon in warm water then blend with food.

I do that and it is great. However she still has a problem with her anal glands so once a month I pop up to the vet and he does them.

He says I cannot do them as she is too small and he does not charge for that "wonderful" act so who am I to complain.

  3. All this advice is great. Also may I suggest you so a little apron in reverse for Mika.

Like a dogs coat except it prevents the belly from any contact with grass. The vet chuckled when he saw it. It worked though as mine has severe allergies.

I have contacted a herbalist and am starting a course of this to see if it works.

Buffalo grass and wandering jew are big culprits.

    Good luck

  4. My vet suggested he had some hills diet first than I could feed Barf with about 60% vegetables to 40% low fat meat such as chicken or beef.

For treats rice puffs with a smidge of vegemite is ok.

Was told Brisket bones are as bad as fat for these poor guys.

  5. I have had this with one of my dogs for the last 3 months. In desperation I contacted a herbalist who over the net and with no charge gave me two recipes for remedies and after having it over the weekend 3 times are day.

We are back to normal stools!!!!!!!

No those horrible, squichy yellow ones that stink to high heavens.

I am using the i/d formula ones till the packet is finished then I am going onto the F/P ones and Barf.

I am so relieved as I got back my IBS from the stress.

NB I used this on myself as well and it worked.

  6. I did start Barf "By the book" .

It was not till months later when I re read the book I realised that I had slipped into some bad habits.

I had gone into a "barf" search here and noticed Patties mentioned.

It seems more and more pet shops are selling these and as I have two dogs with the combined weight of 12 kilos these are reasonable for me.

For a big dog forget it.

When I received the patties I also received a booklet as well.

The barf patties I have noticed are called "Ian Billingjurst"s Barf Patties".
