Hi everyone,

I'm having some difficulties getting my new addition, a gorgeous 18 month old Welsh Springer, from Ballarat to Melbourne (Rowville) to be put on a plane to me in Darwin. If anyone is making the trip from Ballarat after next Thursday, I'd love to hear from you!

In case it helps anyone, my puppy learned this one day when she was really revved up, I asked her to sit and she was totally "fizzing" if you know what I mean! Then I just made her wait there and meanwhile really kept MY energy up, and stared into her eyes! It worked and I now have a very reliable "speak" at the age of 17 weeks!

Good point about pug "language" being different! My basenji used to play with a pug who breathed heavily while running; she thought he was growling at her and it might've got nasty!

My puppy is called Patsy Biscuit, PB or Patsy for short. I like it.

I live in a remote NT community too, and while the dogs here aren't as bad as some of places I've seen in the Top End, there are far too many dogs here, some sick, injured and all breeding out of control. Like most (all!) the social problems in Aboriginal communities, there is no simple solution. I have often wished for a phial of Lethabarb to help along some of the suffering creatures I see every day. It's truly another world: a world most Australians don't know about.
