  1. Is there anyone in or around Wattle Grove who can do a home visit for me Saturday?

    Maree

    CPR

I have a friend around that area who does some rescue work I will contact her ( no promises) but she is currently handraising a litter , but always worth asking :) it is good to see people still do home checks

  2. I'd say you are one of those people who can be amazing!

    Lovely thing to do :)

This! So many people ignore wandering animals, I am not in the slightest bit surprised they were so thankful. What a lovely story :)

This is how I found my beloved Loki :) he belonged to one of the families who do not give to shytes about their dog getting out but rather wish it, so they signed him over to me instead of dumping him or putting him to sleep.

  3. I had to do work placement today and wasn't feeling the best so maybe I wasn't hiding my weaknesses well enough, I dunno, but the rude people were out in force.

I was walking my dog at lunch time as I take her to work with me and was waiting for my lunch outside the cafe when this lady came up walking a cute PoodleX something or other. She sat down to wait for her husband who'd gone inside and mentioned how lovely my dog was and asked me what I did with her. I said that I am training her to be a yard dog and her face went really sour and she told me that was cruel. I asked her how it was cruel. She said working dogs are abused. I told her that some people can be cruel to their working dogs but I certainly wasn't. Then she said that making a dog work, jump on sheep and run around all day was definitely cruel and got up and left. I was like...ok then. I should probably tell the girls that they can't work anymore because it's cruel, no matter how much they want to. *eyeroll*

The second thing. I was in at the vet's and met a lady with a cute little shitzhuX I think, anyway I asked her if I could pat her and she said I could, so I knelt down and started patting the dog, commenting on how adorable she was. When I stood up, she was looking me up and down and I felt a little judged and then she said out of the blue "My daughter has a Schipperke, but you wouldn't know what that is" I then rattled off very nicely exactly what it was and she looked really pissed off and I walked away.

People are so odd sometimes. Glad I'm home.

Yes it is the same as when guys with tatoos etc get labelled for being pitbull types etc etc Don't worry about them. You know better and should feel proud that you are not ignorant like that. :)

  4. I buy minced human grade chicken frames that are labelled as pet meat, it is all about the source and the handling :)

The ones I get are from a poultry factory, I cooked the mince a couple of times when Phoebe was being a fussy shyte and it smelt ok lol usually when you cook pet mince it smells gross.

  5. There is a place over in blacktown sydney that sells chicken pet mince for 30cents a kilo!!!!!!

I bought an extra freezer and purchased 50kg of it

Be careful with chicken mince, my boys mother started having seizures & lost body strength. When we took her to the Vet, he said dogs can have a reaction to chicken mince, because of the hormones & other additives that are put into it.

After we stopped feeding her chicken mince, she was fine.

I have been feeding the same stuff for months and they strive on it and a friend of mine feeds the same, but I guess all dogs are different I am glad your dog is fine now though :) Loki went to the vet yesterday and the reason for his runny poops was apparently he ate a foreign object silly boy :o

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be mean to you, just letting people know that some dogs can be allergic to some chicken mince because of the additives.

LOL I didnt think that at all  and I meant to say Thrive not strive haha getting a a bit tired over here :p

Me too, time for bed I think. My girl will have to drag her bum off the couch & relocate to the bed.

  8. I can't really add any more to your original question but is she irresponsibly breeding puppies from these dogs? If not then why such a push to get her to desex them?

3 of our 4 dogs (all our girls) are entire. None are registered, none have had pups and none are going to. (with the possible expection of one although that will totally depend on what sort of working dog she turns out to be and is only a vague blip on the horizon atm)

Quinn is 2.5, entire and I'd like to compete with her in agility. I'm not in a huge rush to desex her although I likely will because she gets the worst PMS I have ever seen. But my next dog, a male, I would like to keep entire.

Reproductive organs doesn't automatically equal irresponsible owner and BYB puppies. There are reasons we have chosen not to desex our bitches and I don't think that makes us worse dog owners.

    /rant over

I didn't know a dog had to be desexed to be on the associate register till now either.

She wants to breed them they are only 6 months old or something atm so she cannot trial them yet , but she wants to breed later on...... I told her its a horrible Idea but I get classed as a dog loony for telling her so....some people cannot be told. I am just happy that she is going to be stimulating their minds properly instead of leaving them in the yard

Well that's a shame then :( I really need to stop being the optomistic, think the best of people person that I am

No its a good quality :) I am to judgemental most times and think the worst immediately.

  10. Hello my Sister doesn't want to desex her border collies and she wants to know if there are any agility trials etc where they can compete. They are not papered.

I do not condone her not desexing them, I understand many will feel the same way I just want some simple answers to this please not a hot ass burning thread pleeeeeeease

  11. Whaaat?! That's terrible! Schipperkes are such sweet little dogs :(

I've had a few bad experiences in dog parks...

    1. Two Miniature Schnauzers who appeared from behind some bushes and flew at my dog like the rabbit in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I secretly followed their owners to their car, got their number plate and rang the council (who weren't interested).

    2. The owner of an aggressive Labrador... They were both so badly behaved that everyone would leave the dog park whenever they came. His dog rushed at me and my Lab one day and I confronted him about it. He replied that it was my dog's fault for not standing up for herself

    3. A couple (a man and a woman) who walked hundreds of meters into an off leash dog park to swear at me because I had my Lab off lead. My Lab and I were the only ones in the park and it was 9am  The woman was so angry she had a purple face and the man had his fist raised in the air. I was so shocked I let my dog jump up on the woman, getting dirt all over her white pants LOL.

The first and last Schipperke I met bit me on the calf muscle I have a scar there for life I needed 8 stitches, All I did was give my friend a hug goodbye and it latched onto me

  12. It can give them really bad allergic skin reactions and eye allergies but I've never heard of it killing a dog.

And it's Wandering Dew not Jew, for future reference

Guess it depends on if you're in Germany or Australia

And I only just read your comment about Brock  sorry I am not being disrespectful

  13. How old?

perhaps his old digestive system needs a specialised diet ..one which is mostly easily digestible ..with very little to get rid of ..

when his owners surrended him into my care they said is approx 10-12 years ( they couldnt give me an exact age as they dont remember)

He has been wormed I always make sure he is wormed up to date :) including his heartworming , he has been his same playful self but I am definitely going to get some bloods done at the vet to see what is wrong

  14. The last few days Loki has been making sloppy style leavings on my carpet. I have tried my best to get it all up and scrubbed but all it seems to be doing is rubbing it into the carpet.......and I am trying all sorts of product for odour. its is driving me crazy I am a very house proud person and this is doing my head in

I'm trying to think of the brand I've used previously - has got red wine out and the consequences of a pig's ear not agreeing with my Dally. Will have a look when I get home.

I can see how red wine and a pigs ear would not go down very well

  16. Stop feeding tin food first & foremost.

To get it off completely, you will first have to let it dry out.

    Awfully presumptious of you O_o

Just the facts m'am, just the facts.

Except the dog isn't on tinned food, so the facts aren't facts. They are incorrect assumptions.

Tin food is empty calories and full of water there is no way I would feed him that especially since he is overweight its health problems waiting to happen

  17. Thanks so much :) will try all of them, the smell is so bad!! HOW can something so cute produce something so eewww :vomit: hahah

Might need to look at his diet

Yeh maybe, his tummy might not like the science diet, he was just on the seniors one before because he is old. I changed it about 2 weeks ago
