  1. I definitely would NOT breed from a dog with hip scores any greater than 10 and they have to have good elbows too. Remembering that people should really only breed to better their breed.

I'm so sorry that your pup has HD! Hugs and kisses coming your way!

    Thank you Gusgem.

yes your right breeders should only breed to better the breed. This one is only in it for the MONEY. Yes the hip scores were high. I was told a lie.

Could not care less about the pup after. With all the litters she has had recently and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ made. and not even an offer of any kind of help.

I would have more sympathy taking a stuff TOY back to K.mart.

I think she is an utter disgrace to golden retreiver Breeders & the buyers

What ya see is what ya get . I DONT THINK SO

  2. I'm sorry about your pup. Please discuss your options with the breeder, and find out how much they are able to help you before criticising them too much.

    Hi Toohey.

yes ive told the breeder. A sorry to hear about your pup may have been nice BUT NOTHING not even a mention of help e.t.c.

But then again i suppose she has other litters to worry about !! & MONEY.

As i said befor to me this is really bad for a breeder of Goldens. This to me shows how much they care about there pups. This is why i went to a breeder in the first place to get a healthy pup with papers which im still waiting on.

For the good breeders out there this is a shame !!

Its people like them that will make buyers go to .BYB Thats all my breeder is as for as im concered. Just in it for the money.

    No bloody help at all.

  3. If its a Golden Retriever we are talking about, the breed average is 16. Most breed clubs will have a general policy that dogs who score above the breed average should not be bred from.

The 'evenness' of the score is also important. 10:10 would be a better score than 15:5

    Hi poodle fan,

Thank you . Yes your right thats what it said on the hip score result form. But some dont seem to care about that.

  4. Sorry byott, but can we have some more info please.  How do you know that your puppy has HD, is he limping?  Has he been x-rayed?  If he is showing signs of HD at 5 months it is very likely that he will worsen as he ages, but if you haven't had him x-rayed you can't know for certain.

If he does have HD cartrophen injections can be very helpful combined with glucosamine/chondroitin supplements.

    Hi miranda,

yes his hips were making a noise when he walked each side. So vet x rayed his hips.

you could see they were not sitting right. the vet said it was H.D shall get them checked out later when hes older. Vet said lucky we found out early.

Have him on sashas blend plus the injections to be given weekly of cartrophen. to watch his diet no walking on lead and shall see how he goes over the next few months.

Ive had goldens befor as pets. Actually only from one time breeders. had no problem with any of them Last one passed on at 14.

This is why i went to a breeder, Who actually advertised on here. Not pet shop or BYB. & now i have this I know things can happen. But the hips scores was not low from the parents to start with. & when i bought my pup i did ask the hip scores & was told the mothers was wrong. But they were not. Any way ive still been waiting on papers e.t.c for 4 months.

Sorry but with some breeders NOT ALL. its quantity not quality. Which is very sad for the poor pups. sorry but not much difference from a BYB and at $900 you would expect better breeding.

  5. attaching labels to people on this forum seems incresingly common.  Why would someone feel it is appropriate to call someone a "TROLL", after what looks like a innocent mistake.

sounds like this person  "Aatainc" is trying to make trouble !!!!!

I hope byott does not leave !!!

    Hi peuty.

Thanks for your feedback. Actually glad im not the only one who thought that !!

NO i will not leave after your comment. :scared::rofl:

  6. Hi byott. :o

Actually your right i did double post by mistake.

On inspection it appears that you did double post.

But you have also repeated your question, and that is against the rules.

    Hi all.

    Got my puppy  this evening.

What is a good puppy menu for him. hes 9 weeks old.

weetbix  & puppy milk. With egg. is the egg soft boiled ???

Its been along time since having one and need help

I don't think aatainc was being nasty at all but has the interests of the majority at heart.

Tip: If you believe someone has been nasty then report it.

When you respond in kind you only invite others to respond in the same fashion

and ultimately you will lose your thread. :)

    :o

    Hi Pewithers,

I did not say anyone was nasty !!

I just asked if she was having a bad day. another member allso thought she was abit harsh. Not only me.!!

Dont worry i will not be on here again. I thank all the kind people for there help. But i canot stand the bitchy comments wrote back by some . Its easy to hide behind a name. Ive been on alot of forums if this is what the dog & breeding world is like forget it. Im not at school any more and dont need it.

. Thanks all for the pms and your help .

  7. All puppies need raw meaty bones to chew on.

Their baby teeth will fall out when they are ready, bones are essential for healthy clean smiles, puppies need to chew and exercise their little jaws.

Chewing bones also occupies their busy  little minds.

    Byott,

Did you recieve a Diet Sheet with your Puppy?

I would be guided my your Breeder.

Also be aware that if your breeder has a health guarantee in place it may be subject to you feeding what he/she reccomends etc.

    have pm you Nadia.

    Byott

  8. Byott,

HI! If you want to raise your puppy on BARF & you are not an experienced BARFER what you feed is very important. I would recommend buying the book Raising puppies on Bones. It is specifically for the puppy, most BARF diets on the net are for juvenilles & upwards. Or see if you can find a breeder of Goldens who feeds BARF & ask them for assistance.

    Good Luck

    Jacqui

    Hi Bommy.

I dont know if i really would do the Barf diet. Sounds quiet complicated !! . I will try and add alot more bones in the diet thou.

Still abit wary of chicken wings. I would worry they would choke.

If i was giving my puppy mince with his bisc. It it best to cook it or give raw. Its Mince for humans . I dont want to muck around too much just yet thou. the way he is. With his stool thing. shall just watch it abit

    .Thanks

  9. Hi Byott. Sometimes it's the food that can create the blood in the stools. Are the stools firm or soft? What are you feeding the pup? Bear had a bit of blood in his stools when he was a puppy, lots of soft stools. Switched to natural dog food, that is human grade,

    Hi Angenbear.

Thanks for info. Shall watch his food. if it carries on i shall change brands.

Touch wood its been fine all day no blood. Since Protexin. So it must be helping.

Are your goldens pets ? or breeder. They are great dogs

My other two goldens met him today. They have seen him for the last few days through the window. But they were really good with him. The little one MONTY wanted to join in the fun playing. But hes too little !! First day in our garden just 20 mins supervised .

    Thanks

  10. Hi byott.  :D

    Hello pewithers,

Thanks for the link. Sounds interesting reading. getting back to the wild. & yes i did read it all. have to try some more fresh food in his diet. & bones.

I shall wait for awhile as too may changes for the little one.

Yes id like to get my daughter whos 17 to eat alot of that. My daughter needs to fill out more

It is a big list only read the first one. Shall have to come back for the rest.

  11. the poo consistency sounds just like Nina. (who would have thought I would discuss such a thing??!)

    Nianandted.

I typed a message to you yesterday but lost it.

Yes i shall keep an eye and see how things go. he has not had any blood in the last few motions. Maybe that protexin is working hope so.
