I have a show Poodle, so as you can imagine I am extremely careful. I probably fuss too much, but he doesn't seem to mind too much. :D

I can't stop crying from reading these stories.

Enjoy the time you have and share lots of hugs while you can. Please if you feel it is too much, let go and have the vet out. The only thing worse than losing them is seeing them in pain.

On a different note, I am not a big fan of rats or mice, but this seems awfully cruel to kill them that way doesn't it?

I don't want them either, but when you realise how they die it is really shocking. I am suprised that someone hasn't stopped this kind of stuff from being sold. Can you imagine if someone's children ate one????

But very glad to hear there is a big improvement, and I hope things keep getting better.

I hope your fur baby is okay and pulls through. Poor little darling.

I'm very sorry. I know how hard it can be to make the final decision.

I took my dog to the vets and asked him to help me deicide. When it was time he told me so, and although I already knew, it is a big help that he told me that it was the right thing to do.

I think it does make it easier to know that it really is time and that you aren't dragging them into a painful time for no reason.

Have a talk to your vet and see what they say.

My sister had a dog that did this after eating wet food, such as meat and gravy, and after drinking. He would prefer to rub his face on the lounge or you, but after going mad on him he started doing it on the carpet instead He didn't want to be dirty

We use a Dremel (tool) a little at a time. If you do happen to go to far you will just get the tiniest drop of blood. The heat of the Dremel seems to stop it from bleeding.

I did take a while to get him used to it. I just did a couple of nails a day and slowly he gave up worrying.

It has been one year today

We still miss Jasper very much, and we still cry every now and then, but overall it is getting much easier.

Thank you to everyone with your kind words when I lost him. As much as it seems like a long time, it kind of feels like he never left!

And yes it does get easier. I can think of the good things now, not just the sadness.

Very sorry, but we have to think of what is best for them as hard as it may be.

I hope you are doing okay today, but it will be very hard for a while.

I have never heard of any of this until today, it really opens your eyes doesn't it?

I have had the C5 done on all of my dogs for years and have never had a problem. It is probably one of those things that we have just been really lucky with and have never even had a reaction.

Is there anyone there who has the C5 or higher?

I am addicted to Plush Puppy too. I have been using it for about 5 years and I love everything about it. Good stuff.

I use it on my own hair too. :p It is better than the supermarket shampoos. It is made by a hairdresser so they know what they are doing, and it smells good :D

I find change of diet does this to my boy, even if it is just a different kind of treat that he is not used to.

The anal glands are quite easy if you are shown how to do this properly. I know it sounds horrible, but all things doggie are just part of them and they can't help it. Just don't breathe through your mouth .

I have a showing poodle, so he has to be bathed and blowdried before the show and then we have to wash out the hairspray so he is bathed twice every weekend. Never had a problem. We use Plush Puppy shampoo and conditioner and he loves his bath.

After nearly six months it still makes me cry.

Sorry, I shouldn't say groomers as such, but the other people showing poodles. Before I picked up my boy I spoke to a few people who seemed helpful, but now that I have him they aren't.

I have picked up the Shirlee Kalstone book, which is excellent, but I am too scared to start hacking away without someone there who I can ask to check as I go .

Today I was given a name of someone, who hopefully may help, but it depends on if she has time for me. Very busy people.

I should also tell you that I can't even get someone to help with lines which is what I was originally asking for. I was told not to take any coat from the front when he was in puppy clip ( I was told by my breeder and people from the poodle club). One of the top showing people and both judges asked me why I didn't clip his front to give him shape!!! Makes you wonder if they are just doing it on purpose doesn't it.

I brought him from a breeder who shows. She has his mother, grandmother and sister; but only the mother and sister show now. She told me when I picked him that she would help me with grooming. But, it wasn't until later that I found out I probably know more than she does.

She pays someone fortnightly to do her dogs for her (sometimes weekly) which I just cannot afford. She travels forever to get them done. But if you don't work I soppose you have time to do that, and she can afford to as well which I cannot.

I am seriously thinking of just putting him into a pet clip and doing obedience with him, which is what I did with my last dog. It is a pitty because he really enjoyed yesterday as did my daughter who now wants to learn junior handling.

This is my problem, no one will help me to learn. I have asked if I can watch others do their dogs etc, but no one will even give advise. Their dogs are done by themselves and they purposely give no help. I am hardly a threat, but they just refuse to help anyone.

Just amazed at how unhelpful groomers are with show people.

No one decent seems to be found on the south side of Brissie who wants to help and the ones who do are said not to be too good to your dogs.

I see no point in spending hours travelling to groomers over the other side. Especially when you consider working five days, spending one day travelling to groomers and waiting around and then showing Sundays. When do you have a life?

All the people showing seemed to have conflicting advise and you have to wonder if they tell you the wrong thing on purpose. But I must admit that there were some funny whinges overheard today

Do all breeds have this problem? Or just poodles?

Have used it for years and had healthy happy dogs.

It has been almost seven weeks now. I hate to admit it, but Denzel, our new dog, has really helped.

I have only cried about three times this week. And he comes up to see what is wrong and it does make me feel better

He is so beautiful and really worried when I get upset that I have to make him feel better, and this makes me forget to be so sad.

I am really glad now that I did go ahead and get him because I wasn't too sure at first.
