  1. I am the same (kinda) - I have a bad ankle, from rolling it at basketball and then falling off my bike (yup), that hurts in the morning for around 5 minutes after I wake. The rest of the day it is fine.

I am guessing she is feeling sore at night after a day of action and then ready to go again in the morning.

Could it be the start of something else?

  2. I am a little lost......

So you have to give a medium dog 10 caps per day - 250caps is a 25 day supply?

    KP

Maintenance dose for dogs 15 to 30 kilos is 2 scoops (5g) per day which equals 10 capsules. So with my dog who weighs 18 kilos, I divided 5 x 30 = .16g per kilo of dog, so 18 kilos = 2.88 grams per day, which is 1.15 scoops or 6 capsules. I am giving her the powder which works out a lot more economical than capsules when you can get it for $60 per 500grams.

    Thanks!!

So how is she doing on the product?

  3. Out of curiosity what is the 'natural product' your friend is using for an auto-immune condition?

Hey CC, I would prefer not to say on here due to my association with said product. I don't want to be seen to be promoting it...... I know how forum memebers feel about that..........lol

Again, feel free to PM me.

    Cheers,

    KP.

  4. My dog has always been slim and I have always fed him more than the bag recommends as he is active and burns it off. He also gets yoghurt every night and sometimes fish.

He now has an autoimmune disease which he takes prednisdone for. One of the side effects is that he is always hungry. He thinks he is starving and at times seems quite desperate. Another side effect is muscle wastage so he is becoming really bony frown.gif

Has anyone had any experience with this? I feel horrible and don't know if I should give him more or if I can give him something else to fill him up. If I give him more food is it likely to ever be enough or no because of the steroids?

    Hey Cat,

    Sorry to hear the above!

Can I ask what is exactly wrong with your dog? I know you said it was an autoimmune disease, but what is happeneing to him?

My mates dog has an autoimmune disease - skin issues - and he is trying a new natural product because he has irritations from taking Macrolone (steroid). His dog is also hungry and urinates a lot when on the roids.

    Cheers,

    KP.

  5. Hi guys,

Caesar is about 7 months old now and turning into an absolutely gorgeous dog.

Anyway, I have always wondered what Caesar does when alone at home so I set up a camera to record for the whole duration while I'm away.

I left him his Kong Wobbler with his lunch, some of his favourite toys, his bed and free roam to the apartment.

When I returned and went through the video, it was very heartbreaking to see that he spends almost all his time looking out the window waiting for me to come home after he finish his lunch. He'll only leave the window to take a toilet break and go back to the window again. I asked my neighbours to see if he's been barking while I was away but they all said he did not make any noise.

So I was wondering if he has separation anxiety and what I should do to keep him busy while I am away.

    Cheers

I would not call this separation anxiety, I would call it love .

You have a little guy that can't wait to see you as soon as you get home, lucky you!

On another note, have you recorded him for more than one day? Maybe there was something REALLY interesting out the window that day, so he wanted to watch it all unfold. Maybe if you recorded him tomorrow he would be doing something else.......Sleeping, reading the paper, looking through your stuff

  6. Sorry for the late reply!

Thanks for all the lovely words - he is a handsome boy and loving friend!

Mac is beautiful, how old is he? :)

We are not 100%. We re-homed Mac and the owners were not that forthcoming with information. We think he is around 7-8 as we have had him 5 years (he might be older). His teeth are perfect, so the vet said they would only be taking a guess at 7-8 too.

(I know it seems strange, but the owners were not the best).

When we got him he was 17kg overweight and had really bad hips. The silly owner told us he was "a few" kg over, but nothing major. The also said he had minor hip issue, but when I tracked down the original report from the vet (what a mission that was) it showed that they recommended surgery when he was 2yrs old.

He has lost all the excess weight, but is still a bit stiff. We have him on anti-flames when he goes for a big drive, but just on natural supplements daily. He loves to swim, walk and play like most dogs, but is slowing down more now.

Mac was put on a plane from his old owners and sent to us. I will never forget the day I opened the door of the cargo cage at the airport and that boy looked back at me...... I still melt a bit inside when I think about it.

    He is the best!

    Thanks Team,

    KP.

    How beautiful! Lucky boy :)

    Thanks!

  7. I give mine Synoflex.

Do you have a link for this product? (I don't get any results on Google for Synoflex)

I didn't have much luck with the green lip mussel. I have heard the more expensive the better

This is sometimes true, but it is more important to buy from a reputable company. Also there is cold pressed, freeze dried, etc, so this also plays a part in the quality.

  9. What does everyone think of Glyde? It's been recommended for my Pug who has hip dysplasia.

It looks fine, but never heard of this particular product. Green Lipped Mussel is a great product for both humans and dogs in my opinion. It is one of the best sources of EPA and DHA too.

$43 altogether, I think it was $33 for the Synflex and $10 post, I ordered it in the afternoon and I got it 2 day's after. If you want to talk to George just fill in the contact details page here--> http://www.dogcancer.net.au/canine-cancer-contact-us.php, he will probably phone you back.

    Cheers!

Clyde - you could also check out Rose-Hip Vital Canine. I had my young dog on Glyde (numerous ortho-related issues) and didn't think Glyde was doing a particularly good job. She had previously been on Joint Guard. Within weeks of starting her on the RHVC she was back racing up stairs which is something she hadn't done in many many months. But as I just said in the RHVC thread i do think its a bit of trial and error and not every product works for every dog.

I have seen a few people plugging Rose-Hip oil, I might have a bit of a look at it, thanks!

  10. I had always been a boxer fan, until a Mastiff come into work the other day.......... I am 50/50 now, she was just sooooo cute! She kept jumping round, playing with everyone and climbing all over her owner (in a nice calm, friendly way). I think she was 7 months from memory.

So again, I could go either way on this one

    Best of luck,

    KP
