  1. Another trick those people proclaiming to be from the windows/microsoft service team(microsoft will never call you ever they don't have your phone number),is they get you to go into event viewer, and your going to see a lot of yellow and red warning symbols, they say ohh its all bad, your computer etc is in trouble, I work in IT I spent an hour and half on the phone with them screwing them about asking them ridiculous questions, proclaiming I needed to protect all my money as I day trade stocks at home and was regularly doing 6 figure transactions, they got all excited and passed me on to someone "higher" up, they we're really trying very hard to get me to download their "remote control software", eventually when I got bored and let them know I was screwing them, the abuse down the phone had me in stitches lol

Will they be able to recover their money, have they notified the bank? they need to do that immediately

She went to her bank as soon as I told her that she had been scammed. The bank has taken all the necessary action regarding passwords and access etc, and has taken a statement from her. They have told her that they will attempt to trace the transactions that were not made by her but that this could be a slow process and could take up to six weeks. If they cant trace the money trail it might be difficult for them to reverse the transactions. She is under the impression that she will get her money back but I have an uneasy feeling about it simply because she willingly gave these people access to her computer and the necessary passwords to do what they did.

Fingers crossed that she gets her money. In general terms it's not a huge amount but to her it's all that she had !!

The banks security team told me the 6 week thing when my account got emptied(I blame a dodgy online retailer since gone broke as another account wasn't touched), I told them I get paid monthly I'm a single parent can't you do it quicker I need that money, it was literally back in my account the next day, the only thing I heard from the bank afterwards was a call a couple of days later telling me where the money had been moved too and we're checking if I had any dealings with people in Qld, but they were certain it was another compromised account used to "hold" the money before moving it off overseas.

So if shes on a pension she could try call them again and ask.

  2. Nope, handed me the CD, receipt, my doggy and i was on my way.

Did you send yours off to get reviewed ?

No never had xrays, vet wanted to but I spoke to the breeder and a few other people and they said don't get them done by anyone but Karen or Rob and coz she's young to wait and if I'm still worried in 12months time then do it.

  3. Ok got her back, blood results tomorrow, however i wasn't aware that after getting the X-rays (i have them with me) i had to send them off elsewhere to get them reviewed :(

neither did I, I thought they just sent them off if you wanted them reviewed for AZ ratings, you could post pictures of them on another forum, and they could tell you what they think. Also I'd think if there was something seriously wrong the vet would of said something.

Thanks.. what other forum are you talking of ?

I am comparing them myself, i am well far from an expert, but it is helping me stay positive as they don't look bad..to me only that is.

I was thinking of germansheperds.com. Yeh I wouldn't really have a clue either if I was in your position, I'd be just comparing them to other xray pics and what people have said but I would still probably post a pic of them just to get others opinions and shut my mind up until I got expert results back. I would be confident they were positioned properly because of who you went to though.

I was really hoping you'd come back with some news this afternoon, just for yourself so you'd know. They didn't say anything at all about the xrays?

  5. he has been gaining mass recently, i was fairly impressed lol, i have a backyard pool but no way for her to get in our out, i'll have to try and fashion something

Dunno If I want missy to muscle up, she's already quite strong she'd probably pull a car when shes finished growing lol

  6. HAha i remember i was the same when Sara was a pup, worries are back :p

I hope its nothing and just a bit of strain from the extra exercise, I've read swimming is really good for building muscle without the joint and bone strain, the extra muscle is supposedly good if the hips are a little loose. Theres a vet that has a pool where you can take your dog to swim too. I've given them a call and they said it's a full size pool, sometimes you might have to wait but you can swim as long as you want they said, I haven't visited yet but I plan too.

  7. How old is your GSD now, what were your concerns ?

my pups almost 6 months lol and I was being a bit of a 1st time GSD owner worry wart to be honest.

It just seemed like she was limping on her right leg on and off and I thought it may of been her hips and another vet who I went to locally for her shots wanted to x-ray her and was being concerned saying it could be HD, they also told me to up her weight a lot, but after talking to the breeder and other people I've been told her weight is fine and if I have any concerns about hips or something specific to go see Karen as a lot of vets don't know GSD's well, she also does the breed x-rays and I think Rob does too. So I gave her a call and Karen said if she was showing signs now it would probably mean it is pretty severe HD, but looking back I can pretty much say I had been stressing over nothing and its now been shoved to the back of my mind, but then I had other things to worry about like ears going back up lol and now its are they going to straighten out instead of looking like a teepee lol

  8. Strange, how is Rob Zammit in comparison ?

I've never visited either with my GSD but I was told by several people to go to Karen(I believe shes the Hereditary diseases person for the GSD council) when I was getting paranoid about my pups hips, though from talking to her she was very helpful and pretty much squashed my worries, along with seeing other pups run about.

I can say my partner likes her clinic as she's taken her own dog there, and we also dropped a lost cat in there one day.

  9. hm cuts out immediately no ringing from landline, and from mobile i get a busy tone

weird, I just checked my history then and that's the number I got from yellow pages that I visited middle of last month. I just tried calling myself on the landline and its busy.

I do know she's in Monday, Tuesday, and I think they said shes in on Fridays.

  10. Has anyone been able to contact Karen Hedberg recently, the number i googled can't seem to get through.

Called Rob Zammit, waiting for a call back to have a chat.

I called Karen Hedbergs clinic a few weeks ago and spoke to her, I believe this is the number 4571 2042 at North Richmond.

hearing clicking sounds when walking from what I've read may not be good, but if it is HD hope I hope it isn't bad for you both.

  11. God I am so sick of the response: there is nothing we can do.

Why not something along the lines of: That is terrible and we will definitely have a presence in the park and also put up some signage. Are you and your dog alright?

Can't see councils paying someone a grand a week or more to sit in dog park for 8 hours a day unfortunately, otherwise people would have to pay for using the park, though that could probably have its pluses. Having never been to a dog park and warned off them, maybe someone on weekends or late afternoons who just visits once an hour or so I guess could work but then that would again require someone to employee or leave current duties. It would be a hard one for them I guess, until something really serious happens I don't think they'd do much, one of those use at own risk things.

  12. For those looking for green tripe there is also K9 Natural which sells it frozen raw or freeze dried. As Petbarn has now started stocking K9 Natural products (both frozen and freeze dried range) it is now much easier to get :).

Edited to add: Oops should read to the end of the thread before I type :-/

Just got a bag today to put bits in food here and there as everyone says how dogs go crazy for it.

All I can say is it doesn't smell lol but we still only ate half our dinner :(

  13. I haven't heard the louder clickers, but agreeing the karen pryor iclickers aren't too loud and shouldn't hurt your ears, otherwise I use a "yes"(means you can move to get reward) or "good"(stay and I'll give you the reward) been following a michael ellis DVD.

We're learning to stand still atm so at the start I've been using the clicker to mark what I want then moving towards just a "good" and delivering the treats in place. I think the clickers are awesome but to be honest I sometimes find it a hassle juggling the clicker and treats lol

  14. Yes, I like to keep a light contact on the lead so I can give a half parade if necessary

half parade ? is that gaiting them? we attended our first show lesson last week and on the walk back past some builders who had eyed her off, I let her or is it me have a little practice lol

  15. Espinay2, that was very very helpful. Thank you!

I will aim to take him out every day without the kids and really work on it with the stopping etc. I will teach my husband how to do it too and make sure he continues it when he walks him.

they do pick it up my quick my girl picked it up on our first walk when i started the method the other day, she still will stretch out but she isn't scrambling all over the ground as often anymore.

  16. I don't want to start another thread, so I'll put the questions here that I just thought of after reading, as I have a just turned 16 weeks GSD also.

With teaching loose lead walking and all the pulling, and she's like an ox, lets say I go to go for a walk and it takes an hour to get off the front lawn because I'm being 100% consistent on stopping, while she sits, still go on the walk?

also if at our destination which is at most 5mins walk away, I do a little bit of training which is mainly focussing on me for 5-10mins while we get closer to people(trying to stop her barking at ppl and other dogs atm), then I give her about another 20mins of her and I just roaming around the field, too much and should we just go home after the focus work?

    Thanks :)

  17. around where I live mostly Jack Russell, Maltese terriers, those type of dogs, whether they're from BYB or not I don't know.

I went to two puppy schools near here, one was a class of 13(which I left after 2nd week), 5 of the pups were staffy types but we're pretty sure they all were BYB as they were talking about what they paid, their was one Rotty from show parents( I didn't see them the second week so I guess they bailed too) and the others were jack russell, and mixed breed, and one beagle, the second school was a class of 5, two were staffy types one definitely pedigree(american staff) the other BYB by the look of it.

So Lots of small dogs, and staffies i guess

  18. I couldn't help but laugh at your comment Aliwake...

Hankodie, this thread has been very helpful to me too - thanks for starting it! :)

Out of interest, what do people suggest to do when the pup runs off with something and wants to initiate a chasing game? Our 11wk old pup, Griffin, sourced my daughters singlet tonight. I didn't chase him because I knew that's what he wanted when he ran straight out into the backyard with it. I waited inside the door and within a few minutes he came back to get my attention and when he ran past my feet I grabbed him and got the singlet back. What do you think the best way to tackle something like that would be? He's not yet willing to give up something fun if I call him back...

a come call for me works most of the time we're only a week older so still working on the leave it with other items besides the pile of kibble or treats sitting in front of her lol, but calling her or if she hears me open her kibble box sends her flying back in with the item which she promptly drops and I trade her for lol
