  1. Is it's coming from a pet shop in Mt Lawley? They may say they don't source from puppy farms but I wouldn't believe it. The amount of puppies they have coming through that place is unreal! Please find a decent ethical breeder and don't give this pet shop your money as it will only encourage more byb/puppy farming :mad

Oh my god they are famous, how did you know!? Don't tell the name here we don't want to have any legal problem.

  2. Don't you have a young GR too, I hope you are prepared for the amount of work that two young dogs will need :)

We are all expected the little monster will make more trouble then our GR(He is real a talented professional digger!), we are all mature enough to unterstand once the pups came in the house, they are our family members for the whole life.

  3. Have you looked at the listings with registered breeders here on DOL? There are a couple ready to go now, including one priced at $1200 - all from registered breeders... Even with the cost of transportation it will be a big saving for a much better dog!

Rothlynne and Jordysong advertising at the moment both very good Breeders (both show) and both very well priced!

Why is the little one has white body colour and black on the face, any idea what will he looks like when he grows(colour)?

which one are you looking at? They are REALLY hard to predict adult colouring as they change a lot. Best idea would be to ask to see photos of the parents, who are you looking at? I would look into Rothlynne. My friend just bought a Rothlynne pup and he is ADORABLE.

And this is my big girl at 2 years old, she has the best temperament!

  5. go to a breeder, you don't get papers for petshop puppies and you won't know if it is a purbred Pom or not.

Pom Breeders in Perth are rare unlike east coast.

Can we buy the puppy from east coast and ship it to Perth? Does this allowed to buy puppy from other state and ship to another state?

Yes - a lot of people do this - my last pup was from Brisbane and I am in Perth :)

Would you mind advise me the procedure to do that?

  6. Family is looking for a second dog we decided to go for a pomeranian. It is not from a breeder though, so we didn't ask the price before we go to there, we expected the price would be no more than $1600 (our 1st golden retriever pup is $1600).

We were shock when we heard about the pom pup is $2500 @ around 10weeks with no papers(They claim they do not support puppy farm/mill, however, if they are from breeder, they should come with a paper right?).

To be honest we love that pup, If he is from breeder, even if the breeder wanted to sell $2500, we will pay for him. However, pup with no papers and cannot verify where are they come from and asking for $2500, I think they are not sincere. Normally how much would a pom puppy from a pet shop be? What do you guys think?

  7. He is now 17 weeks old. We are planning to send him to a professional training centre near us.

Reasons why we want him to be trained:

He will be a strong and huge dog eventually. Although he is gentle and friendly, we still worried about his power of the body might hurt other people especially kids.

I am confused about those different names of training such as junior puppy training, advance puppy training, group training, adult residential training, adult residential behavioural training.

Do you recommend train dogs by a trainer?

Is it really works? I heard people said professional trainers can train dogs no doubt. however, the dog might only listen to the trainer, once they return the dog to me, the dog might not want to do the commends from me?

    thanks in advance.

  8. Just wondering which brand of pick-up bag do you guys recommend. I use a brand with 60bags($16.95 from "famous" pet shop) and I thought the price is not competitive. Wanted to find a daily pick-up bag with competitive price.

    Thanks in advance.

Kmart nappy bags $4 for a box of 200.

Well that's an idea  Gonna get it today

Sometimes I thought dog supplies are way more expensive than other shops. I bought a 30packs training pad for $30ish in pet shop and I found out the reject shop sells the similar product(40packs) for $15 only.

  9. Hi there,

Since I saw the pet insurance problem thread and realised it might easy cost few grands for a single operation/illness, so pet insurance is definitely needed. I have quoted by few companies such as RSPCA, pia, woolworth and pet plan. Only pet plan offers 100%claim and others offer up to 80%.

Here is the maths, up to 80% claim is way cheaper than petplan's 100%. Around 400-500per year vs 860(checked). Same excess 150.

In my case, my goldie cookie is 3months old, I don't know if he can be very ill until he become an adult, so my partner wanted to give cookie the very best plan to cover his potential bills at least for 2years.

Roughly calculate If a operation/illness needs more than $2000, the pet plan works well, otherwise(<2000) the others have advantage(add up cheaper than petplan). It seems petplan is more suitable for potential high cost operation dog.

To be honest I have no idea how likely is a 3months old puppy needs operation/illness($2000+).

From your experience, do you have any puppy needs a big bill until he/she's 2y/o?

  10. I used advocate when my pup was that age. It's hard with dogs that grow so fast because you can't buy in bulk! I think some vets will sell advocate singly, or you can sometimes find 3 packs. It is a good product. You also need additional tapeworm treatment though, and tick treatments if you live in a tick paralysis area. I think you only need a tapeworm treatment every 3 months (though cookie might still be young enough to need it more often - I can't remember). Your vet should sell single treatments of the right dosage too - you can just pop in to buy it as needed.

Hi aliwake, I read the description on advocate. "Advantix Large Dog is a topical once a month treatment for the prevention and control of fleas, ticks and mosquitoes in dogs over 7 weeks of age."

And here is another description of advocate. "Advocate does not treat ticks or tapeworm. It is recommended to worm with a tapewormer tablet once every 3 months." <- This time does not treat ticks.

A bit confuse here, does it means the advocate included heartworm, flea and tick(or not) prevention 3 in 1? If so, I don't need to buy front-line flea prevention as advocate included it already?

So what I need to buy today- advocate 3packs + tapeworm treatment(could you provide the name if still remember?)

Correct me if I getting wrong.

  11. 4th days update:

We played with him this morning we thought he get used to the environment already and he knew we are his new forever friends. We put the food inside his house and he only get in when he needs to eat/drink, maybe he needs more time.

We are going to buy somethings for him, blankets, puppy kong and "get off to my garden" t prevent he eats the plants/flowers as suggested. We probably upload a short video of cookie and his backyard setting.

This is what cookie done yesterday.

  12. Update : gladly the pup is fine, the vet is not Adrian but she is a nice, friendly vet. She thought the pup is doing good and I agreed based on yesterday and today. She answered me some questions and give suggestion about caring the pup. He just had his 2nd shot and willing to bring him out for walk and meet other nice dogs after few days. Finally we can have a happy dinner without worrying the pup. Will keep update at least few day to share the happy puppy.

  13. Hello helpful guys,

3rd day update(pup will visit Adrian in hours today):

I turned the doghouse face to the door and he still not willing to get inside, maybe he needs some times to it.gkJgXNx.jpg

His favorite playing point(out of his unsupervised area), this is a little problem, he loves to play things here but he will bite/chew the wood with the soil, not sure if its okay with it. I block the access there when unsupervised.yAagGoB.jpg

This is what he wants to dig. 1b8s4dw.jpg

This is he really loves to chew, the black one.EGgIuPU.jpg

He loves grass area of course but can he play unsupervised in the grass area? expect he will chew the wood again.

  14. That's good that he's inside with you. It seems he likes to go outside too. Are you taking him outside often to pee/poo so you can get him house trained. That takes a quite a few weeks.

Yep that's pups. If they're inside they want to go out and if they're outside they want to come in. Puppies are a lot of work. He's a very cute little puppy.

Thanks. He is really cute one in my eyes, I didn't toilet train him formally but he learnt to pee/poo in the bath room(random area in the bathroom tho...) and the backyard as the pic shows. The mess was expected before we decided to have a pup.

  15. He sleeps in our bed room with us at night, but we will let him go out side in the morning as he will cry to the backyard door, we are not sure why he loves the backyard tho, we don't mind he plays around the backyard but he just finished 1st shot that's why we made an isolated area for him. When we let him outside, he wants to stay inside, when we let him stay inside, he wants to go outside(crying sadly).
