Just got a friend making her "debut" and she's worried about her dog scratching at something around his neck as he generally doesn't wear collars, so she'd like to take him in on a slip lead then have him perform naked.
-
I have what may be a completely nuts question but I've never considered it before as my guys always wear something collar wise into the ring. There are a lot of rules around what they can wear, but can they wear nothing?

Keep up the chat everyone. I do check in from time to time..
and Uptown Funk has a great beat too Schatzis Mum
Yep it's perfect for my boy who thinks he's hot stuff (hot damn!)
Wow 53 entries each day for the State and Nationals! It's super exciting and a bit nerve wracking! Not long to go now!

OK I have a dumb DWD question. You can't use music with swear words in it naturally, but would you be offended by the use of the word "damn" in a song in DWD?
In what context is it use ie is it replacing a swear word?? What song are you using?
It's in
- the bit where it says "I'm too hot (hot damn!)"I would have no problem with that one :)
Thanks :D it would lose too much of that funk sound without it.

Hi everyone.. Sorry that I havent been around. Just been busing with the scent study stuff. Also got myself onto a DWD working party committee. Let me just say that is taking a fair amount of my time up.
Nothing else new on the dancing front for me just yet. I am trying to hunt down a good skateboard song or just some skateboarding sounds that are longer than 5/10 secs I really dont want to do the sing that Splash loves alot again, but then again if it keeps her happy and I can get the prop that I want made up for it, than we will see.
anyway keep on dancing with your dogs
cheers
My first thought it Skater Boi by Avril Lavigne.

No training Easter Monday as I am putting on a Mock Trial. I am only doing the Agility part & someone else is doing the Jumping. All the courses are nested, which saves time. We will start with Advanced, then Novice then Beginners. Trophy & Prizes for all events. To make it more fun & so that dogs can go in more events, I let the more advanced dogs run in the Novice events, but they are "not for competition" . Novice dogs can run & compete in the Advanced if they wish. :) Now just to hope that it doesn't rain
Here is the Advanced Course
Novice Agility
And Starters Agility. With the starters, they have no weave poles, all the contacts are lowered & the jump heights are lowered & only dogs that have been training for less than 12 months can enter. Their competition is the one that can do the most obstacles before stuffing up, in the quickest time. I usually give them a couple of chances with the start line.
I think Mock Trials are a good idea as it is not only training for the dogs, but training for scribes & stewards as well & all competitors have to fill out an entry form (& get it in on time) So good training all round
I'd love to borrow your novice course for my novice people for this week if that's OK
No problems. After you set it up, just have a look to see if jump no.10 needs a bit of tweaking to make the angle to the dog walk a bit smoother. I have taught my group to take the dog walk from all angles. You might even like to add another jump in there. :)
Cool, I thought it would make a good challenge for them to try and do that approach, will see when it's up how it looks.

Kato will always be a pup!
Congratulations to the most talented trio I know, and to their "boss". The result does not surprise anyone who knows this team!
Di

OK my boy Styler came a close 2nd to Schatzi in HTM Intermediate and he also placed 2nd in Freestyle Novice with our new routine.

Thanks :) Kato in particular blew me away. He just went out and strutted like a pro. He's always been too excited for dancing until now. I had to laugh when the judge said "your pup is going to be great" and I said "Oh him? he's 8 years old".

YAY , That is awesome news I hope that you have lots of entries and heaps of fun. Sorry I wont be coming up as my girl and I are part of a study group for Diabetes Assistant Dogs and that is close to completion of the study.
cheers
Thanks Kallistar. We're really excited to have finally got it off the ground.
Funnily enough, one of the other trainee judges is also doing the Diabetes scent program!
Fantastic news, great to see Canberra rolling :)

We were "moonwalking" at that point, she just adores walking backwards. It's nice to see that she really does enjoy herself :)

Just thought I'd share this pic of Tora competing at the DWDCQ state titles a few months ago. The look on her face is priceless! She's having so much fun :)
