  1. Thank you for the positive comments guys

I actually work at Furkids and can gaurantee that our C5 vaccinations are STILL in date and you are given the vaccine labels(vacc cert) which also have the used by dates on them, we are merely trying to give our clients an early Xmas present as we know that leading up to Xmas sometimes people are a little light on funds.

As for our Veterinarian's opinion not being worth anything - thats a fairly sad statement, as Sandra777 stated our clinic was built by breeders for the use of breeders and hence we do not charge like a wounded bull for our vets professional opinion. Being that the majority of the staff here at Furkids are breeders and show goers we demand quite a stringent health check for our own puppies and those that are presented to us from our clients.

We do however Thank you for your concern and hope that this has cleared some things up :p

  3. We changed our amstaff from supercoat sensitive to EPH as he has shocking skin problems, we can't speak more highly about it - within 3/4 days of feeding EPH, his stomach and legs were no where near as red and inflamed - his coat so far doesn't seem to be suffering atm but we will keep an eye on that and his weight. We also give him a chicken frame or chicken mince with his dry - though I have been told by quite a few people now that I should never feed RAW chicken, it should always be cooked and stripped and fed to them......... we always thought that they were good for them??? Should we be cooking them??? We unfortunately can't feed our boy any red meat as this seems to stir up his allergies again, so chicken really is the only other option(other than the sardines he gets now).

Sorry for highjacking your thread, but this was pretty much what we were thinking lol.

  4. Hi Guys

Has anyone heard of or does anyone use Cydectin Pour On for Fleas, Mites and Ticks??? I recently got sent some info saying that it is brilliant, and I just want to know if anyone here has used it or still uses it and how they find/found it worked on their dogs???

    Cheers Suz

  5. I really want to buy a tennis ball with a "tail" attached to it, like a racoon tail. I've seen them on websites for overseas, but have yet to find one here.

I like looking at different toys, things that you don't just find anywhere.

    Hi VJB :o

I think we have found them or something very similar, they seem to come in 3 different ball sizes and tail types - Fox, Raccoon & Squirrel. They look interesting to say the least

By the way where abouts are you opening your store??? Also Judith from Artemis is on the hunt for a qld stockist that does not sell live animals so get in contact with her on [email protected]

    Hi FTPO

Our shop is going to be in Beaudesert Q'ld, fingers crossed that it does well  I have been in contact with Judith but we are going to have to look into the freight side of things(not cheap unfortunately) any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanx everyone for your comments and suggestions so far, its great to get an idea on what their dogs do well on and is still cost effective

  6. Thanx guys for the responses so far, my hubby and I are opening a pet supplies shop(no live pets) so instead of feeling our way in the dark and only stocking the foods we use we would ask for some other favourites that people use  We got sick of going into stores and not being able to find what we wanted so we figured we would open a shop aiming at both the show people and pet people - Fingers crossed that we go ahead in leaps and bounds

  7. Hi Everyone,

Just got a few questions for you all................. Our questions are:

    1) What Dry Food do you use?

    2) How long does that last you?

    3) Do you buy more than 1 bag at a time?

    4) What is the size of each bag and its cost?

Also are there any things that you find difficult to find, whether it be food, collars, treats, bedding etc?

    Thanking you all in advance

    Cheers

    Suzie and Patrick

PS: Im very sorry if this is in the wrong are or is not allowed, please feel free to remove

  8. AST's are only agressive as you make them(too many idiots out there are ruining a beautiful breed) and if you don't get your boy used to other dogs(all sizes) he will become a fear biter. I agree with everyone on here about an off leash area - they are very full on, perhaps try walking your boy around the outside of the off leash area with the fence still between them - he can still see all the dogs in there but they can't actually get directly to him. We introduce all our pups/dogs to other ppl's dogs that will allow it (on leash though) as it gets them used to seeing other breeds and their sizes. Failing that I would get in contact with your local State Breed Club and find out when they have fun days as they can be a great way of socializing and some breed clubs also run in conjunction with other breed clubs.

Best of luck with your boy :D

  9. We actually can't use Hills or Royal Canin on our Amstaff boy - he gets the runs something terrible. We feed Supercoat Sensitive like yourself and we swear by it - if Luca has anything else he either gets the runs or breaks out again. We feed with the dry food raw beef/chicken mince and rice, he also gets evening primrose capsuals, fish oil capsuals, ACV, Livamol and sardines twice a week. We also wash in a Neem Oil shampoo(its green) that we get from our local produce store, as some of the others are a bit too strong for him and give him the itches. So thats what works for us and as everyone else has said - finding that happy medium is the hard part, once you work it out its easy from there

  10. Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good hydro - therapy centre in the South Brisbane area?

Couple of questions for you too: Do the ppl that run the centres take your dog to teach them what to do or do they just go - "Theres the pool knock yourself out?" And also whats the average cost for sessions?

    Thanking you in advance

  11. Hi Everyone,

A quick update on Stephie's girl Mela, she has decide to go with the Cartrophen Injections(I found out today when I gave her a call - see what happens when I only get half the story lol) Im not sure if Steph was seriously considering ever mating Mela but I think she was just worried about the side effects and what it would do to her internally. I'd like to take this oppurtunity to THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH, its greatly appreciated by both Steph and myself  I will be sure to let you all know how she gets on, Thanx again

  12. She has had her checked out by her vet and they seem to think that it could be the early onset of arthritis(bitch from memory is about 4) but they want to do whole lot of injections that my girlfriend just doesn't feel happy doing to her girl - hence the reason Metacam(orally) was suggested.

I will let her know that she will have to contact her vet to be able to get Metacam and let her know what you guys have said - I'm sure she'll be happy to know that it won't take weeks to notice a difference in her girl if shes able to use it.

  13. I have a friend that is having issues with her bitch going lame of late and it has been suggested to her(not by a vet though) to use Metacam on her - Her worry is that it may affect the bitches reproduction side of things and that it will take a long time to get into her system and not give her any relief.

Are there issues that she should know about before trying it out and how long till she would notice a difference before she should stop using it?

    Many Thanx

  14. wow ! I didnt know there were so many uses...

A friend of mind told me recently that ACV reduces the size of a bitch's nipples after a season and will also do the same, along with drying up milk, after weaning babies..... has anyone tried that?

I have had friends use just ordinary vinegar on their bitches to get them back into condition for the ring and it seemed to work a treat for them - I'm guessing that ACV would be the same maybe not as drying as the normal vinegar  Hope that helps

  15. I can completely understand where your homeopathic vet is coming from, as that makes sense but thats the weird thing about Luca, his paws have never been an issue. I've had Staffords that chew their paws to pieces and are flat out walking but he hasn't done this at all :noidea: Im really hoping that these antibiotics help him and I've also been told to give him zinc aswell??? The shampoo that we're trying this time is Malesb and an Aloveen leave in conditioner - heres hoping they work too

  16. Well everyone, we went to the vet yesterday - its not any type of mange :noidea: a couple of his lymph nods are a bit swollen so he is on some antibiotics and he sold us some more shampoo( ) and tells us that we should only feed him dry food(hills sensitive) but we told him we would wait and see how the antibiotics and "new" shampoos go. He thinks it could be contact allergy but can't understand why his paws are fine and his belly is red raw.

Fingers crossed that this works for us - Thank you everyone so much for your thoughts, if you have any others let us know

  17. Wa this dog raised at your previous residience & if so did he scratch there or more so at your new residience??

Is he red & itchy at any particular time or all the time

The grasses are very similar, mainly being kikuya(can't spell) and a little bit of kouch(once again can't spell :) ) his scratching is the same and the only time he doesn't really scratch is when hes getting tired or whilst hes playing, its when he stops playing that he starts his scratching - if that makes sense.

Im going to take him to a new vet(to us) tomorrow and see if I can make them do what I want - skin scraping being one of the first things. Should I be giving him any evening primrose oil, zinc or antihistimine? (i've read ppl use those)

    Thanx again everyone
