Dog Behaviour And Training Contacts In Canberra

Can anyone suggest any reputable contacts in Canberra? Needing to give details to a workmate. Sorry I'm being lazy not looking myself, busy day at work today....

Particular issue- he mentioned to me was that he barks continuously at strangers entering the house and is very protective of the owners.

Maltese cross I think, rescue dog, about 2 yrs ...He asked what to do and all I could think was to refer him to professionals. They are willing to undertake proper training and do the hard yards. There could of course be other issues but this is the one that I am aware of.

ACTCDC - dachshund in Tommy's class went from barking the ENTIRE time, to letting out just a couple of excited barks during the last session. This was with the owner putting in a lot of effort at home implementing the strategies taught during classes.

Both Canberra Animal Hospital in Lyneham and the Animal Medical Centre in Phillip have veterinary behaviourists. They will assess the dog, and provide advice (and a report on methods to use), although they dont do all the work for you, its up to the owner to follow through.
