  1. I thinks we must say well done to the Western Tiers.
It was truly a great weekend  Maxbox did you let the pub know that you weren't happy with your meals? I most certainly would have as I know they would have welcomed the feedback.

I think the problem with the meal was they didn't realise so many people would be about and didn't have enough staff in the kitchen. (Not only was there a dog show, but Rodeo people about for that as well) They didn't really seem interested in feedback, too busy.

Fair enough, was a huge weekend, we are booked in there tonight for a meal, so we see how it is.
  2. I thinks we must say well done to the Western Tiers committee   What a great job they did with this HUGE event.

If they ever do it again, I'm hoping to be there next time.

I'm itching to get out and about again now that the puppies are all older and I can leave home for more than a couple of hours at a time!

Yes they are planning on doing something similar next year, but the other clubs should use some imagination and get another couple of weekend extravaganza's going, it was lovely to see people enjoying each others company and the sportsmanship shown was great.

P.S. Ellz have u entered any shows in preparation?!?!

  3. I thinks we must say well done to the Western Tiers committee   What a great job they did with this HUGE event.

We spent the whole weekend camping, had a great time socialising and a great time showing!

We did have some success, Puppy in Group with the Dobe on Tuesday.

The only downer for the weekend was the meal we had at the pub,it was terrible.

It was truly a great weekend  Maxbox did you let the pub know that you weren't happy with your meals? I most certainly would have as I know they would have welcomed the feedback.

We certainly had a fantastic weekend enjoyed with great results, great people and not to mention the great food we shared. Maybe it is something that other Tassie clubs could look at on long weekends, we may not have the numbers but we need to catch up with our mainland counterparts and move forward with new inovations.

  4. re 'double points' ..... if you're in Tas, WA , NT for example then you're all in the same boat so to speak.... you can

still be very competitive in the "State" section of the Pointscores.

    Yes you may well be.....

I had a bitch win the breed rising star pointscore nationally last year, despite only attending shows in Tasmania and a couple on the mainland. If she was eligible for the full year this year she wouldn't have a chance. Mind you the couple of times where she was exhibited on the mainland she did very well. And 9 times out of 10 when being exhibited she was against her brother (who finished 2nd nationally) and sometimes older animals who are very competitive across all states.

  5. Hmmm my fav GSD's would have to have been *Ch. Dorsten Monte Cito AZ H.neg and *Ch. Quincito Awol A both corner stones of the breed here in Australia

Weims would have to be Am/Can/Gr. Ch. Graytskys Smokin In Havana (Imp USA) definately left his mark on the breed in Australia and a fab dog to watch in the ring.

  6. It is just one of the minor hiccups in this type of competition, people claim awards that their dogs DIDN"T win, but then it up to someone else to prove that they didn't. Like firestone said we only do the pointscore for our own benefit and we are pleased with how our lovely team is performing.

  8. We wont be doing this bunch of shows...

??? is it the first time that Tassie has EVER had 4 shows in a row ???

Good luck to all the locals, and especially the visitors :) . Hope you enjoy your stay, and enjoy our gorgeous state... Just be careful on the roads, too many deaths already

Just going over on the boat on Thursday, and the cost for the car was something like $980 I think, (that was for 2 adults, 2 kids, in a bunk overnight)... Just a word of advice... When you are ready to pay, ring TT Lines a few times per day, for a couple of days, and grab the lowest price. I dont know why, but, we were quoted anywhere between the $980, and $1100, cos we kept ringing for extra things :( . I still wonder if we tried again, could we have gotten the price lower :D .

Yes this is the first occassion that Tasmania has been able to conduct four championship shows in consectutive days. The hard working club members have done a great job in the organising of these events and the whole town has got behind it and supported it :)
  9. We certainly know how to have fun down here in Tassie, will be great to have some visitors. The grounds are somewhat dry, but are being watered but the facilities are good the showers are hot and the pressure is great. There are heaps of people camping  It is a small dedicated committee that run the show and we are all looking forward to the four days of showing. I gather you are coming over on the Spirit??

There are no regular show vans in Tassie, only Marg Brett (only does the southern shows and hasn't been well) and another gentleman again only does the southern shows. I will send you a pm of a lady who has a grooming business only 2 mins max from the ground.

Oh yes I am coming to Westbury it is our very local show :o

  10. Back in the early nineties I had A Saint Bernard - Chalet Saints Kathmandu. He was 125 kg and 36 inches at the shoulder when he got his title. I always chuckled at the people that had bigger dogs especially the perfect 85 kilo rotties :( .

whilst at a royal Melb one joe public with kids said what a lovely border collie much to the alarm of a woman who was blind who replied she was blind but could tell it was not a collie  But the best of all went to MR. Gordan Deanna (not sure of spelling ) at a show in Wagga Wagga who stated to me when I rocked up to exhibit the KAT " I'm sorry sir but we have already judged the Bernese Moutain Dogs ". Well I nearly collapsed in shock horror much to the delight of all within earshot !!

HMMM sounds like us. Open show aspiring group 5 judge (about to sit exams). Sable puppy GSD male very plush in coat, only to be told I am sorry madam the Belgians have already been judged. :(:champagne::cheers::cheer::clap:
