Just wanna say thanks to everyone at the show who helped me out and showed me the way! Both my dog and I started out very confused but by the end of today we think we got the hang of it! :-) can't wait for our next show!
Glad you had a great time... your girl is a cutie :D Sounds like the show "bug" has bit

Today at Gundagai, Dyzney (at almost 9 years of age) gained her final points towards her Neuter Champion Title and will now be known as –
CH. and N.CH Eramoo Dazzling Dion CD ADX JD SPD HT PT HSAs ET
And just to make it all the more special… as I am on whelping assistance call with a friend (whose bitch was looking like she might go early) I was not comfortable leaving last night. So at the last minute my husband said he would take Dyzney up to Gundagai, to show, all by himself.
He has only once handled a dog in the ring as an emergency thing for someone else and is not comfortable with showing at all, so for him to agree to do this for me brought a tear to my eye. He is just the sweetest man and would do anything for me. He knew how much this title meant to me, so bless his cotton socks.
After a quick crash handling course, ironing of some cute duds, he left home late last night and will be home later tonight.
Thank you Mr. Dyzney
Yay, congrats on the title Dyzney!!
Well done to Mr Dyzney too
-
Thanks for the congrats everyone :D
Well done to all the winners over the weekend.... ooooh sooo close Dyzney - look forward to hearing of your girl's title.
Sorry to hear about Rhemy's surgery, hope she's back out there soon.

Just wanting to post a brag for my homebred Dobe "Kirk". He earned the last points needed for his Neuter Champion title at tonight's T & G All Breeds Dog Club show at Castle Hill.... so proud of my brown boy
Well done :).
BUT thats not a brag !!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on, give us his full name with titles and what he's achieved along the way - he deserves it :D .
Awww thanks
Kirk is now Neuter Champion Caslero The New Black ET WAC
He earned his Endurance Title at 2yrs of age and his Working Aptitude Certificate (WAC) on his first attempt at the 13th Australian Dobermann Nationals in 2010. To pass the WAC a Dobermann must "demonstrate the characteristics required of a dog to be a stable companion and resolute protector."
I believe Kirk is the first Dobermann to achieve the Neuter Champion title - hopefully Bisart's girl will be the next one :D

I have definitely noticed a difference between pre-points and currently in terms of neuter class. I used to show Jedi before it was a title and we'd rarely have competition for group and there would be maybe 2-3 dogs in the "in show" lineup. Now he is regularly having competition for Group and I have been to a few shows with a full line up for "in show". It has been less than 6 months and the numbers are growing - at least in NSW.
Yes, I've noticed the same in NSW... our first show post title implementation there were 16 entries for Neuter sweepstakes (we managed to get 1st too ). I enjoy the sweeps classes, another opportunity to get out there with our Neuter dogs - Hills District have been holding them for several years (pre title) and I always make sure I support their shows
-
Jedi had a great day today -- he took our Best Neuter in Group at the Ladies Kennel Assoc show! I'm so proud of him!
Congrats TerraNik - I think I must have been standing next to you in the Generals Specials line up...
Am loving the Neuter classes and will definitely send an entry off for the Hawkesbury show! Our next one is the Xmas show at EP. Hopefully more shows start holding the classes.
-
Yes, I'm hoping to see some more Sydney/NSW shows holding Neuter Classes once the point system kicks in after 1 July.
At the moment I only have a neuter dog to show (+ his desexed mother). I tragically lost his litter sister at 16mths who had been doing very well at shows and, due to family commitments at present, am not in a position to have any more dogs for a while
I want to thank Hills District Kennel & Training Club & Ku-Ring-Gai Kennel Club for being some of the only clubs in our area to be consistently holding class 18 (and giving lovely fringies and prizes!). Hopefully some more clubs will pick up the classes going forward.... I'd love to title our boy
I would have loved to have headed up to the Rylstone-Kandos shows in July but we have a family birthday that weekend I can't get out of.
-
Just updating the Club website and came across these pics of Rex enjoying himself...
-
Oh no, I'm so very sorry for your loss..... Rex was a wonderful boy in so many ways. I know how much you loved him and how your heart must be aching right now
Hugs to you and your Dobe girls - they will miss his presence too.
Run free at the Bridge Sexy Rexy - I'm sure Jet & Keira will be there to show you around.
-
There are neuter classes at Hills Dist (Sydney) on the 15th May. Entries are open till the 5th if anyone wants to get one in!
But points do not come in effect for neuter until July 1st so there will be no points on offer for Neuter at Hills District.
Nope but good practice I've entered - the Hills District Shows are practically the only ones who offer Neuter classes and Sweepstakes in the Sydney area these days. I make sure I enter their shows each year for this reason (and have a few fringies to show for it ) Looking forward to more shows after 1 July.
-
Loving these stories, thankfully I haven't had a fall in the ring (touch wood).
I do remember stacking my Dobe for BOB and whilst leaning over adjusting his front legs my necklace somehow got stuck in the check chain....my neck stuck to his neck - not fun!! It seemed like the loooongest time to get it unstuck while the Judge looked on patiently

With the cream I'm using for the spot on my bitch's leg, the vet said to put it on her before she eats or goes for a walk so she is distracted for a while and the cream has a chance to be absorbed... Apparently this cream has a numbing agent as well so it stops the site irritating the dog.
I note your girl's lump is fungal. My vet checked the spot on my dog's foot with a black light and it didn't flouresce (sp?).... she said that only @ 50% of fungal issues do. My bitch also had an enlarged lymph node in her neck on the same side as the affected leg pointing more to some type of infection. She said that if it was fungal the spot would get worse within 3 days of applying the cream, if it wasn't it would start improving (which it did). My girl has just finished the 10 day course of antibiotics and is still having the cream applied 2-3 times daily.... the spot has decreased to half it's size and is no longer raised or angry looking so definitely on the road to recovery.
Hope your girl heals quickly for you too
-
This is a long shot, but are any of the dogs who have had this 'condition' fed via plastic bowl? Funny how they've all occurred on the dogs' noses, almost in identical positions.
Nope - only stainless steel bowls used here.
-
looks very similar to what my she has, probly is the saem thing, would i be able to purchase the cream ect over the counter at the vet?
The Vet will probably want to see it and the creams I've had are used in conjunction with antibiotics (10 day course at present). Both are prescription only.
The cream I'm using at the moment for the one on my bitch's foot is Ilium Neocort..... can't remember the name of the cream I used a few years ago for the one on my girl's nose... I know it was a different cream though (different Vet too).
-
My young Dobe had something similar to this a few years ago (see pics). I took her to the vets and they said it was a type of Staph infection - some antibiotics and cream did the trick.
My old Dobe bitch (diff to above) came up with something similar on her foot this week and, again, antibiotics and cream are clearing it up. I mentioned the one my other dog had on the nose a few years ago and the vet said that the nose area is a very common spot for them.
Hope this is the case with your dog and it is cleared up easily.
edit: both these lumps came up very quickly ie: 3-5 days.
-
Hugs to you Ollie1 on the sudden passing of your beautiful girl Image. The feelings you have are only too fresh in my mind also as we lost our beautiful Dobe boy Jet very suddenly and unexpectedly almost one month ago..... even though he was 11yrs old it didn't make it any easier.
Image and Jet are up there playing together - along with all our other much loved and missed companions.
Thinking of you and your family at this time
-
Sent my entry off today.... better get my "deadly treadly" out of the shed
-
When do entries actually open? If the ET is in August I'm assuming it would be in the May/June catalogue??
Last year it was in the June journal so probably the same this year. The ET is normally held on the 2nd Sunday in August and entry fee is $50.
You also need to have a vet complete a certificate (this form is sent to you by ET organising committee) within 2 weeks prior to the ET stating the dog is physically fit and able to participate in the Endurance Test.
-
My Dobe male had one when he was @ 4yrs old... it was on his side. I didn't know much about them and had the vet cut it out. A few years later another one came up on my dog's chin - the vet confirmed it was another hystiocytoma and I just kept an eye on it and it disappeared after a month or so.
Reading I've done since is that they often disappear on their own - hopefully this happens for Solly!

Caslero did it for a friend I recall........... but bummer she is doing it with her own dog, cant ask her to do mine..........
LOL - well it wasn't the plan for me to do the entire thing - we *were* going to share the cycling.... but my friend found the going difficult and got pulled off the bike by her dog ;) I raced over, checked she was ok, grabbed the dog and bike and then cycled off at approx. 20km/hr til we caught up with the group again ;) Thankfully we had no other dramas for the rest of the journey ;)
