  1. Two weeks ago I gave both my dogs a Nexguard primarily for tick prevention. I hadn't used this brand before and since then both my dogs are itching and scratching and its starting to really upset my cocker spaniel. Has anyone had any problems with this? Cant stand seeing them scratch and I have been putting frozen face-washers on the areas to help settle them down. If it doesn't seem to settle soon I'll head to the vet.
  2. Misty looks beautiful! My Billy is the first cocker spaniel that I have had....got to say I he can also be hard work at times, but so worth it. What a pity that the breeder wasn't straight up with you, it could of so easily ended in heartache if you weren't so dedicated.
  3. Frozen carrots are also great for puppies who are teething....
  4. I am also interested in the promo codes that some sites have...I had a quote done for my dogs during the week and was asked if i had a promo code. I'm off to search the internet now to see if I can find them.

  6. Mine are both inside and outside with a doggie door to come and go as they please. Occasionally I will lock them out if its a gorgeous day. They are usually well behaved...but I do have to stick the bin up high otherwise thats too much of a temptation.
  7. Where have these reports come from? I havent heard anything about this, just the dog nappings and poisonings in Corio/Norlane.
  8. T & S, so sorry for the pain you must be going through, such a difficult decision. This link may help those who are faced with the uncertainty of having to decide.
  9. Hi dogmad, I am not too sure if it was AAPS that they went to....but I will suggest them. Thanks for the links and please keep them coming. I am sending them through, however the sense I was getting was that they were getting frustrated with either the dogs being gone, which happens, and the lack of communication when trying to make contact. Keep them coming please....that little Tibbie girl looks so sweet.
  10. Hi everyone...Just on the the off chance someone might have a suggestion. I have a friend who has been looking for a small female dog to join their family. She is specifically looking for a rescue dog, one that is good with kids and is also gentle around their older golden retriever. Great home is assured, the mum works part time and they include their dogs as valued members of their family. They have tried local shelters with little success. I think they are leaning towards a swf/pug/CKCS....that type of dog, but open to all suggestions. Does anyone have any suggestions that I can pass on? Preferably within Melbourne or an hours drive or so from Geelong. Thanks :)
  11. I often defrost in the microwave, have been doing so for years and years, but never to the point of it being warm or completely defrosted. I mainly defrost for the older dogs, I worry they have cavities and the cold will hurt their fragile little teethies.....
  12. Ive been tryin to get in contact with Senior Dog Rescue, the email on their website keeps bouncing back to me. Is this rescue still operating? Thanks in advance.
  13. Baifra, I am so sorry that you have lost both your girls, so painful for you. In the pics they look like such happy and kind dogs, its obvious that they were adored and their memories will be cherished. Run free Rusty and Jess.
  14. totally agree, I've had one that was a minute too late and it was horrible. I've never forgiven myself for not doing better by him I read that quote on here a few years back, and it helped me greatly when I had to put my gorgeous old lab to sleep.
  15. Geeze, heaps of places to hide in that backyard if you are a snake. My dachshund has caught and killed 3 or 4 snakes in my backyard when I lived up in QLD, it used to terrify me. Thank god she was a good snaker.
  16. Hi, I dont know a great deal about BSL, but if I was in your shoes I would start preparing a folder of as much supportive information as possible. Start from where and when Pookie was born. Do you have any history of where and when he was born, and by what sort of parents. Can you get photos of the parents, and if not possibly a stat dec stating as to what breed they are. Can you contact the vet in Darwin that you had and ask for copies of documents stating what breed Pookie is. Ask for a letter from your current vet as well. Other things I would do is look at the fencing and if possible get quotes to have it fixed, this shows that you are indeed making an effort and are serious about proving that not only is Pookie not pitbull, but also that you are serious about keeping him contained. See if you can get letters from neighbours in support of his temperament. Has he done any training at a club, if he has approach them for a letter of support.
  17. Ive also stayed at country wide cottages and loved it.....but the lack of fencing was a bit of a downer. This is great! We loved the dam and the dogs were fascinated with the yabbies that we caught. Forgot to say, what cabin did you stay in Dyzney? We stayed in the Igloo and dammit...that bed was THE most uncomfortable I have ever slept in. Hope they have a new mattress by now.
  18. We would like to come but I wont know for sure until a few days beforehand. We have been once before about a year ago and had a great time! Lovely people and gorgeous dogs. If anyone is in Geelong and would be interested in coming up together just let me know.
  19. I am newish to clipping and bought a pair of Wahl SS (meaning single speed). They have been great, dont seem to be too heavy and easy to handle. And, I havent nicked my boy yet! lol. A couple of tips that my breeder gave me were to make sure I only clip when my fella has been recently washed otherwise it bluntens the blades apparently, and always drop a little bit of machinery oil onto the blade when finished using them.
  20. http://www.gippslandlakesaccommodation.com/ These cottages have had great reviews and its on my list of places to go.
  21. This is my baby girl Georgie, she turns 15 next week. Ive had her since I was 25 and I am 40 now. Happy Birthday Georgie Girl!
  22. ;) A little tip, dont let your pup chase the neighbors cat. This is likely to end in disaster at a later stage if you dont nip it in the bud now.
  23. I agree with this.....I'd imagine 84 dogs to be a full time job. I would be a bit worried.
